The temp was too warm this morning when I checked it! Yikes I hope I didn't make soft boiled eggs. It was about one degree too warm.

Will that mess it all up?

It was a stable temp until I put the eggs and the turner in there. :he I guess the turner makes it hotter.

I'll be off the computer today, running errands in town and visiting people, have a great weekend everyone!

What type of incubator do you have? I just got the Little Giant, and it says to put the turner in first, then get it to the temp B4 adding eggs.

I'm sure you'll be fine! Mother nature doesn't incubate those eggs within a one degree range. Just keep an eye on it now that you know. It should restabilize fairly quickly I would imagine.

It is just called a "still air" incubator by Miller Company, made in the USA (I'm waving my little flag).

It was just a hair UNDER temp when we returned home. We have it adjusted right on the money now so hopefully it will stay that way. I did have it running at the right temperature, but didn't have the turner in there, I did not realize the turner would change the temperature. But Hubby was saying, how could a hen possibly keep the eggs as regulated as this.....almost exactly what framing fowl just said, so I imagine we still have a good chance at a hatch.

Had a nice day, visited all my favorite people, dropped off eggs for Kitty, visited with my daughter Bud and her daughter, and then my best friend from Tri Cities came, I'll call her T and picked me up and I spent the rest of the day at her daughter's house with her. I know her daughters and granddaughters rather well too so it was kind of a fun get together. They were all happy to see me so it felt good. I worked with this person for years and for awhile her daughter worked with us too. When she changed jobs, I followed T and changed jobs as well, and this was the place that I already described to you all where they trained the schutzund dogs for the police officers and was a boarding kennel and vet clinic catering to show dogs and breeders. It was an interesting experience for a "rescuer" to have, it gave me perspective into the show world and dog breeding and I had been somewhat of a rescue snob prior to that. But T and I became very close when we worked there, we both lived in this county and that job was two counties north, so we commuted together. And there was a little apartment upstairs, we started staying there overnight some times instead of making the long drive home and then coming back early. We eventually planned it that way and only came home once during our four day week, in the middle, to see our husbands. We got really close to each other, but I ended up not being able to continue with the job when my hearing went out. It was a very interesting job for me, one I was very suited to, and T was just the best co-worker and such a good friend, I will never forget that time. She was also my boss and I learned so much from her. And she has been the truest friend I have ever known, it was so good to see her. She ended up buying a house about three hours away so I don't get to see her as often. I coached her about Facebook today and I keep trying to get her on this forum (she would LOVE it). The odd thing is she always lived in the country and just moved to the city and I have always lived in the city and just moved to the country, so we can teach each other about our "new" lives even still. T was raised on a turkey farm as a kid, and she has lived a self sufficient lifestyle all her life, just naturally, because she is that kind of person. She is one of those people who can just make things work and devise things, we liked to call her "McGiva" because she has long blond hair and that TV show. She is a hoot. She is learning about landscape gardening (one of my old favorite passtimes). I rarely have time anymore to think about how pretty my plants might look.

I was working on my incubator set up for a couple of days, so that it would be ready for the turkey eggs. I have some chicken eggs in it that I started a bit earlier. My temps fluctuated a degree or two up or down while I was getting things adjusted as well, but no more than when a hen leaves the nest to eat and drink. ;) Still it stressed me out.

We are trying to hatch these at school. That stresses me even more since I have to leave them over the weekend un-attended. I bought a max/min thermometer for the bator so I at least would have some record of major problems.

Since almost half of my vegetables will be grown in my very visible front yard this year, that is almost ALL I think about right now. I am also kind of trying to set an example around here. Years ago I was a total oddball. Last summer I counted about 4 other front yard vegetable gardens. Having a pretty urban garden full of food is a great advertisement.

A bad side effect of this ... SOMEONE STOLE my TWO HOES out of my garage!! :somad My goodness I LOVE living in the big old city! :sick

Stolen hoes??? At least they knew what was valuable . Hopefully they didn't use them as weapons... next thing you know, you'll have to have license and make sure they're registered and report them on your homeowners... :gig.

It REALLY hacks me off! :somad My best hoe had an extra long handle (that my NAME is wood burned on BTW!) and was a very balanced sharp tool. The other one ... more for scraping concrete, which was what I needed it for.

My garage is SO SO old and cruddy. It was originally built to house Model T's, so it is very narrow as well. It does not even have a door to shut. :rant

Unfortunately someone who would steal a hoe probably just wanted the metal. :/

I can never find my tools when I need them. There are four of us here and for some reason I'm the only one who knows there the tools belong when you are done with them.
