That reminds me of the cat we had when I was growing up! It was my dad's alarm clock, because he would feed it when he woke up. the cat would sit on his CHEST and watch him breathing for the last five minutes before his alarm went off. He always marveled that the cat could tell time.abifae said:

So for weeks now I've been digging trenches to double dig and Trouble and I have been moving wheelbarrows full of goat poop over to sit on a certain sunny spot in the lawn.
Yesterday I got tired of waiting for the men around here to construct me a garden fence to keep the deer out and I got to thinking about how Denim Deb can put in POSTS so I should be able to get something done. We had a big ol' pile of junk and a lot of pallets. Well I had seen some interesting trelleses for plants made out of pallets and I instantly started thinking about using those as fence walls. So I started dragging them all into a big box around my goat poop pile and stacking things to make it stand up. It fit together pretty well.
And today, Hubby was home and he wired it all together for me and made me gates going in and out. We both used a lot of recycled stuff but not really ugly things so the overall effect is somewhat whimsical. In places where the pallets are narrow we used pieces of old dog cages and chicken wire. One corner of this is supported by an old children's swingset no longer in use and a little playhouse that I've converted to my broody hen or chick house. So the chickens will have a little fenced yard as well, when I chose to let them out, that is. Or I could open the gate and let them cruise around my front yard. I still have to plant all the plants in order for it to look right, but I have TONS of space for climbing plants, and we can move or reshape this thing as we wish. I'll have to take a picture. It cracks us up because we uses pieces of an old clock, an old futon frame, a rolling metal stand, and assorted pieces of wood we had here and it is all hooked together into a fence. I think I want to plant some scarlet runner bean around the front and some cosmos in the planters around it that I have seeds for already.
The veggies I've started so far are in there already, but they are swallowed up by the space! But soon things will be in there and growing.
The family also came to meet Murphy today, the dobieback. They loved him and they will be back to adopt him on Sunday. #362 going to a happy home.

I can hardly wait to see pics of your fence! It sounds neat. And, I'm glad Murphy is going to his new home.

X 3. I am sure the fence looks great! It's great to hear you just went for it. I need to do the same. I want to build a little hut for my poults but dh is not cooperating.

I'll have to try to take some pictures today.
My computer is biting the dust, I'm on hubby's now. I may not be online as much for awhile. It is still working but cannot handle doing much without overheating, freezes and has to be rebooted all the time. The computer geniuses around here put it together from spare parts. It has done an admirable job considering, but it is almost ready for its RIP. We have plans to get me one of those little laptops you can carry around when we can afford it. I use it so much for communication that I need internet access 24/7.
But I'll still work on photos. I should try to find a "before" photo somewhere. I also want to work on getting the dirt in place as right now instead of garden I have mostly tarps covering goat poo! Only a few rows are planted so far.
Of course Hubby is planning a big expansion and it was all due to him, of course.
He did make it much better, but I got it started!
