Savingdogs-Saving the chickens

Our lab/dobi is a poo eater. He has the worst gas!! I have yet to figure out how to get him to stop. Our vet told me that some parasites are species specific but I'm pretty sure the dogs got cocci from the birds. We treated them all. Probably should again.

Chicken poo is extremely high in protein content compared with other manures. Perhaps she is lacking something in her diet or has an imbalance of some kind that makes the poo especially attractive to her??

She has been on a diet, she needed to lose weight and has. So I'm SURE she feels she is lacking in protein, she thinks I'm starving her. She finally is a healthy weight for her size however. Maybe my choices are a fat dog or a dog with chicken-poo-breath.

Why not milk them before you go? Then you can stay as long as you want and milk when you get home. So that means milking 3 times that day.

What an awesome idea! Thanks! My sister is driving there from CANADA so I hate to rush home. I never thought of that, but of course if I milk right before we leave, I can stay longer, what great advice.

I haven't had to do it yet but a friend of mine has done it on several occasions. Works out fine for her. Have fun at your family gathering!

My dog Deirdre has developed a new habit of wanting to eat chicken droppings constantly. Does anyone else have this problem? I find it totally disgusting but can't go around scooping every chicken turd. But I'm wondering what parasites she might pick up this way. Does anyone else's dog do this?

Our Dixie like litterbox snacks especially when our old kitty is in a bad mood and lets me know it by leaving deposits in different areas of the house (she usually does this after the evil kitten heads back with dad to Eau Claire.).

I am picking up a fresh off the track hound today. We will be fostering her for two weeks. We'll see what kind of snacks she will enjoy

Awesome! What are they like fresh off the track? There are never greyhounds in rescue here except with the official greyhound group, they take care of them all. I did have one 1/2 greyhound, but she was like the lab half.
