Sounds like pure goat bliss! Nice job on the milking so far. Perdy seems to have calmed down and was up and walking around last night. I was relieved because she seemed so sluggish yesterday afternoon. She perked up after her grain so I think she's needing a little more. She's so huge.
Nice find on the herbal selenium/copper. I use something like that too. I'm happy with it so far.

Well actually now the adult goats are not getting along.

Donald the wether wants to be in the kidding stall, under the heat lamp, butting heads with the kids! We had him in the dog yard, but he has a thing for chewing the electric cords running out there to heat the chicken coop suddenly this morning.

Molly, who has not yet given birth, wants to have the kids to herself. Ginger does not think this is a good idea and wants Molly away from her kids, and they are having head-butt fights. I thought we would let them work it out at first, but they did not seem to. Ginger is bigger and finally knocked the still-pregnant Molly over so we went out and stopped it.

They have always gotten along famously before????? These are the same goats I was worring about parting!

We closed Donald inside in one stall and Ginger and the kids in the other and Molly is running loose in the pen, trying to find out how to get into the kidding stall! I can see everyone is being noisy and upset.

Hubby and I had a big argument how to manage this. In the middle of the argument, I got a huge vertigo attack and have now spent my entire morning trying not to spin. Yuck! Sometimes I just hate being me.

Does this mean Molly is going into labor soon? Wanting to take over another doe's kids? We were wondering if this is hormonal. Molly is very unassertive and this is the first time she ever asserted herself like this. She seemed genuinely perplexed that we chased her out of Ginger's stall.

I only have two stalls total, so I"m not sure exactly how I will manage when Molly gives birth now. I did not picture this behavior at all or we would have worked harder to make a third stall. I was afraid they would all continue to want to be in ONE stall. Sheesh! goats!

oh whew! i can finally look! yay!

but i'm shaking butter in a jar so i cant type long

its ok if the big goats dont get along. just make sure the babies are safe. there might be some changing around of who is 'boss' or herd queen.

remember you can tie hog panels together (cut with bolt cutters) to make a quick and easy pen if you need more room

Sounds like everything is going well! It's not uncommon for another doe to want to claim someone else's babies. I'd definitely leave the mom and babies separate. You don't want Momma to get so upset and get confused. Tell Molly to have her own babies.
