This is the local news for my Mom, but it happened over in Idaho. I've driven that stretch of road enough.

I want to know who made the chains that attached the trailer and truck. I've seen many people scoff at those until their trailer jumps the hitch. This set was very well built.

Far out! That would be scary! How lucky they survived.

I just talked to my sister in Idaho. Those poor people lost everything they own. Even the groceries that they just bought.
Those mountain roads are tricky, even the highways. They must have come around a corner off the mountain and the wind in the gorge must have caught the camper and threw them out of control.

I was thinking wind was at fault. It's horrible thing in some of those areas. We always had winds from the Columbia River Gorge to contend with growing up. Driving north/south your steering wheel was always off center to compensate.

The news article talked about a GoFundMe for them. The trailer was their home and they are older.

Yah, it sounded like they had retired, sold their home and bought the trailer to travel around the US.

No insurance? No matter, that's a tragic accident!

Traveling out west, flat desert, they put wind socks along the roads so you can see there is wind...and how strong. Many an 18 wheeler has been toppled!

Im terrified of heights. Hanging in that truck for an hour and a half staring 100 feet down at my doom might cause something to snap.

Sounds like they had insurance, but have to wait for the insurance to do their "investigation" and make a payout.

They may have lost everything .....BUT THEIR LIVES..... the camper probably has some salvageable stuff in it.... but they are lucky even though looking at the wreck it seems so awful....

I can not imagine sitting in that cab waiting....... God Bless the rescue people....
