Great topic Wildsky! I only have a son so at home I just deal with my own issues. Well, I take that back. I am do want to raise my son to be able to see past the media's idea of beautiful. His father is good at that. I am blessed with a husband who can see inner beauty and only cares that I am healthy.
However, I work in a Middle School with students in grades 5 through 8. The 8th Grade girls I work with seem to be most damaged. I can already see the 5th grade girls struggling with self image and what they think they are supposed to look like. Since I'm a speech assistant we do a lot of talking and sometimes I have the opportunity to share with them my opinion of the media, etc.
