Thanks Quail and Tankshill. I'm glad they're home too and maybe they do know they did something wrong or upsetting to me. This evening, I ran out to the garden to grab some lettuce for supper just as a thunderstorm was brewing. When Smiley saw me, he came all the way across the yard from his normal post by the goat pen to see me. He doesn't usually do that. He'll come over for a pet if I go out to the pens, but doesn't normally leave his post if I'm in the garden area. So, maybe he did sense I was worried about him.

I know it's his job to go out there after coyotes and other predators so there's a very real possibility the day may come when he doesn't come home, but darn it, he's such a sweet boy. He's very shy around strangers and won't come anywhere near when there's anyone here but us, but when it is just DH and me, he's a total marshmallow. He loves a tummy rub and will run ahead of me, flop down and wait for me to give him a rub. As soon as I've rubbed his belly and continue on my way, he'll jump up, run ahead and flop down right in my path. I can't tell you how many times I've almost tripped over him.

Here's my ferocious boy in all his glory.

Glad to hear the dogs were fine, Sheri! I love that picture! Smiley certainly looks like he is enjoying his roll! :D I know our Great Pyr can be a fierce guardian and later a loveable pup in the same day!

How funny! He looks like our Pyr when he finds dead perch on the beach to roll in - Heaven, I'm in Heaven.... :gig

That is a beautiful animal, Sheri. I'm glad you found him, or rather, that he found his way home. I bet he did know you were worried about him. Dogs are way more intelligent than most people give them credit for.
I always knew where to look when I couldn't find my Lobo, he'd be down at the corner store eating the old tossed out fried chicken :p

When I went to bed last night, I was contemplating how on earth I was going to get anything accomplished today. No sooner did we get the baler fixed when the tractor broke down, so with that and the dratted rain that won't let up, there would be no baling. I was expecting more rain, so there would be no puttering on the endless list of projects waiting outside.

Boy, was I wrong!

As bedtime approaches tonight, I have 11 beautiful big round bales out in the yard, thanks to a friend putting me in touch with another friend who had hay for sale at a very good price, the chicken run is virtually complete, thanks to an unexpected break in the weather and the very unexpected help of the guy with the hay, and the tractor is fixed, thanks to a friend of my neighbors who used to work for an IH dealer and knows my tractor model inside and out.

It really was an amazing day, made possible by some amazing people who pitched in to help us out. They guy with the hay even helped us wrangle (literally) a goat out of the garden. :)

Most of my goats are, if not totally tame to the point of being a pain in the butt, at the very least manageable, but I have one totally wild little dairy doe who would rather leap a 4 foot wall than let you get a hand on her. Of all the girls to get into the garden, it would have to be Cinnamon. DH and I tried for over an hour but it was like trying to catch a wild gazelle. The little gal leapt over more things in that one hour than I could count, but do you think she'd leap over the fence back into the pasture? Not a chance! :) Thankfully, the fellow bringing the hay is a cattleman and knows how to handle a rope. He was able to catch her on the second try and within 15 minutes of his arrival, she was back in the pasture where she belonged.

Now all I have to do is get some hinges on my chicken run door and I'll be so happy I won't be able to stand it. :D

Glad you had some friends to help you get everything under control.

Maybe you should learn how to use a lasso on your goat. ;)
