Those new pots and pans got quite a workout today. I made a huge macaroni and ham salad with home grown peas, green beans and carrots and then tonight threw together a variation on rice crispie squares. Now, with any luck, the sores in my mouth will heal quickly and I'll actually be able to eat some of this stuff!

Thanks, Tankshill. Today is a lot better. It gets really frustrating during the first week after treatment. My mouth gets so sore I can't eat, drink or at times even talk. And for me, the not talking is probably the worst. :D

But, it doesn't last forever and today, my mouth feels almost normal. Now, to tuck into that macaroni salad!

The dessert bar I made yesterday was a total bust, in my opinion. The recipe was as follows:

1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 1/2 cups peanut butter

melt that and add 1 cup mini marshmallows
melt those in and add 6 cups rice crispies. Stir to coat and press into a greased 9x13 pan.

Well, what I got was a crumbling mess. A few of the "bars" held together but even those sort of burst apart when you bite into them. Right from the start, I thought there wasn't enough marshmallow. I'll have to look at the recipe for regular rice crispie squares and compare, but it seems to me for the regular ones, there's a lot more marshmallow.

Whenever we did "flavored" rice crispy treats growing up we always used the original recipe and then just added whatever we wanted to it. I love the peanut butter ones!

Unlike the males, my two female LGDs have been penned up with the goats since I got them at 10 weeks old, so if they do get out of the pen, they take off like a shot, exploring the strange new world beyond the fence. They got out today while I was away and DH and the neighbor were putting a bale of hay into the pen. One of the girls has come home but the other one and the two boys are still missing. It's been over 5 hours and it's now pitch black outside. I'm worried sick that Ellie will just keep on going, getting so far from home the boys won't be able to lead her back or that something will happen to them in the night. I'm praying hard, here, but I can't help thinking the worst.

Sheri, so glad they came back. Guess they were just out for a stroll. GOOD BOYS, bringing the girl home! ;)
