Interesting observation here. A state highway with speed limit 70 mph usually has traffic running 75 - 80 mph. Today, I was driving 65 mph and I was passing people. I don't think a single vehicle was over 70 mph. My car reports I got 3 mph better than usual. People are adapting.
she's the first person ready to say that women are a pain in the a$$ and then she says she feels sorry that i have to live with her and then we laugh. you have to know that she was in the trucking business for 30yrs and worked all the office jobs up to terminal manager. i always give her tons of credit for the hours she used to work and the three part-time jobs she was doing before finally getting the full-time trucking job. now she's retired. she can do what she wants. i'm here to help, but also i try to stay out of her way... support roles are fine for me... i'm also good with washing a lot of dishes.
Gas is 4.19 at a couple of places but most are 4.29. Diesel is mostly 5.45 along the interstate... our Southern States with 50 cetane is 5.05.. we filled up the truck when we hauled cattle to town early Friday morning. I keep the car and truck full whenever I find it for a lesser amount than the local station if I am going by on my way to or from work. Will check out prices tomorrow when I have to go to work in the morning and come down through town on my way home.
I was in Walmart Thursday when I went to a seminar on a the Asian Longhorn tick that is the primary vector for this new problem called Theileria disease... causes sudden sickness in cattle, some death, some abortions.... but if they get over it they are persistently infected but it doesn't affect humans and the meat and all is safe to eat. However.. it can play havoc with breeding herds, and kill some calves that seem perfectly healthy, and possible abortions... and cattle getting pneumonia type symptoms... lethargic... and they can die easily if not given "supportive care" until they start to feel a little better... It is a blood disease and there is alot of studying going on here since it is fairly new... discovered in this area in about 2015????
Anyway, the canning shelves had alot of stuff and I picked up some bottles of fruit fresh since last year you could not find it. A fair stock of jar lids and stuff. But there were alot of shelves that were partially full...No real panic type bare shelves.. but many were more sparse than they used to be.
Also, the button backs for the eartags we use in the cattle are not to be found anywhere... Allflex is the brand we normally use... the website says it may be June before we see any... might be longer. None to be found at any online cattle supply places. DS's GF bought 100 eartags and backs on line and the backs work with one of our tagging guns to they were worth it... we will use our tags, but will have to use the backs that she got... some of the animals drugs are in short supply... backlog on the vaccines we use for the cattle... I only use Triangle 10 HB KILLED virus vaccine... do not like the modified live vaccines... and we use a 7 way clostridial for blackleg in the calves because if they get sick with that they are dead before you know they are sick... it's environmental and the immunities from the cow's colostrum only last for about 8 weeks. We never used to do much of anything then lost 3 calves in a week... and it was blackleg. A 50 dose bottle is about 20 bucks... CHEAP insurance. We give it to the cows when we preg check to help boost their immune system and increase the antibodies in the colostrum for the calves. The Triangle is about 4.50 dose... still beats losing a calf worth $5-900.
See less cars on the road. I think people are really trying to cut down on the driving to save on the gas.
