Yes, I didn’t expect it would actually affect us directly as we don’t import that much Russian wheat, just like we don’t import much Russian oil, but both are global issues.

Russia also exports a lot of fertilizer. There’s another fun one 🙄
I better order that blood meal and azomite right away... Thank you for noticing and mentioning the fertilizer. It's going to be a bad year for Big Ag because of high fuel and fertilizer prices. It was already looking rough before this...

Work from home is one way to reduce gas consumption, hopefully that will be continue to be an option for many
Unfortunately what I do requires my being in a store to physically move product. But I'd sure love to....I just make every trip count as best I can. Any errands or shopping combined with a workday trip. Substitute or do without "until" for any thoughts of unneeded whatever. 🤔

Its amazing to realize what can be accomplished by retraining our thought processes and adapting our habits. Consider if you had no car --- how to manage. Challenges. 🤭

Time to stock up on flour

we don't have room for that. we normally use 50-100lbs a month depending upon how much Mom is baking. prices have gone up. she doesn't care. i'm trying not to eat so many goodies so i can peel off some more weight before spring so i'm not as much of a part of her demand curve calculations (a joke, she doesn't really think in terms of supply and demand she just does what she wants and then we find people who want whatever it is she bakes). so far i am down 4 (four almost spells like flour) lbs of my bulkitude, but she is up 25lbs (of flour). :)

50-100lbs/month? 😳that’s a lot of flour!

when she bakes it is usually quite a lot. instead of a batch of cookies, it will normally be about five double batches and then also it is rare she makes only a single kind of cookie. so by the end of the day we've got 300-500 cookies. and then she makes other things too, cakes, muffins, brownies, pies... it keeps her busy. this is besides all the quilts she makes. she has slowed down some this past year, she finally decided to not cook as much for other people (meals not desserts) as she was also doing that too several times a month.

She needs more quilting material!

she does! since we lost the contacts with the place up north we used to get large bags of old sheets from them that she could use. so she's been scrambling this season. 50 quilts take her 200hrs and 200 yards of fabric (or at least that is what she told me). she's got feelers out to some places and people and all her friends and family are looking too.
