My eldest son is almost done at the U and no debt so far. He works hard and plays hard. He's doing great. He did graduate from highschool with about 4 college classes already completed though advanced programs in the highschool. No scholarships, no grants. but we did do the Texas Tomorrow fund that helped with one year of community college and one year of University. In totoal he did 2 years at the community college and why not? I don't think it makes much difference in the long run. Right now he is in the Business school in the State University. Regarding college savings programs like the Texas tomorrow Fund, I think those kind of programs are going broke now so if you are thinking of setting one up for your kids look at it very very carefully
I hear that there are more grants available these days, Pell grants... so check those out
