So I'm thinking of opening a camp. Maybe.

I'd sign a waiver. I don't have a problem with that.
C'mon down then LOL

As I give it more thought, though, I'm thinking maybe just scheduled weeks throughout spring, summer, and fall and no weeks for camp in the winter. Two reasons:

1) Gives us a break from "house guests" and
2) No chance of being snowbound with idiots or anyone else I'm wanting GONE fast...lol

Yeah . . . make sure you schedule your personal time, or you won't enjoy it as much.

I'd be interested in attending "camp" but 1 week would be to long for me. 3 days would be ideal for me. Any longer than that and I'd feel guilty about the work I had at home waiting to be done.

I would really like to learn soap making under the guidance of an experienced soaper.

A waiver would be a a good idea, I'd be willing to sign one.

EEEwwww....hmmmm.....while a great idea to throw around and develop---please research big time. it sounds like alot of work seriously.

Now the farm next to my booth at the market----they give classes.

$35 per person for like 5 hrs. to drill holes in tons of logs for mushrooms. they get a small lunch and drink. Get to take home one log...learn about the process etc. All the while they are drilling they are doing the LABOR for this farm and they are paying them to do it...LOL

camps I think need to follow real regulations don't they? Ugh I am not sure......keep us posted how it goes for you and the direction you take.

So would you suggest day camps?? People in driving distance could just pop in for a day, or there could be a 2 day program like a weekend workshop??? etc???

Hmmm I dunno how to make soaps....so I guess I'd better get me some soaping knowledge LOL

Maybe camp isn't the word I want, more like a Farming Workshop, or maybe apprenticeships???

Weekend workshops might be good . . . more practical for some. Perhaps you could offer a variety of stay lengths for various topics to be learned?

You could also pay someone to come and teach stuff you might not know as well. An added expense for you, but might be worth it!

I'm thinking I like the idea of a weekend workshop better. It would give me all week to plan the workshop, and there could be a flat weekend rate per person or a flat family rate.

I could work the snot out of people in two days!! :D

Oh wait....

I want them to want to come back right?! :gig

I posted on another thread that I asked a lady in my area if she'd like to barter my working on her farm in exchange for her teaching me SS skills. She said she'd love to do it, but would want to wait until her goats have their babies. She said she could teach me to help a goat kid, milk, make cheese, butcher chickens, etc.

One idea, just off the cuff, even if you don't know how to say make brooms or basket weave, doesn't mean there aren't people willing to barter their experience for some pork when you butcher a pig or some veggies from your garden.

You can't know everything, but bartering can give you anything you need.
