I got one gift, and it was an important and welcome one: a water purifier for my sink. When you turn on your tap, and it smells like a bottle of Clorox, you know you are in trouble.

:sick We had bad water in San Diego - when I would run a full bath for the kids, the smell would make me feel ill! (BEFORE the kids got in :gig )

We have well water out here in NE, and its LOVELY - tastes really good, almost sweet!

Hate to be a party pooper or complainer.

But all I got for christmas was...
Nothing.

I must have been bad bad. I didnt even get a lump of coal. LOL

This christmas was only for the kids. Money was tight. But tax season I will be getting repairs done on my SUV. I cant wait till I can open my driver side window.. Yippee..

A Nutrimill grain grinder. I put the word out to see if anyone had an old one, but MIL went and got me a new one. Not sure I'll use it much, but when I do, the bread will be awesome.

2 crappy can openers - seriously, how hard is it to get a can opener that works and doesn't kill my hand? I'm on my 4th model now.
A garlic press that does not press garlic. It's a zyliss, which is supposed to be "the" brand to use. Not so. It's the worst one I ever had. Avoid it if you need a garlic press. I'll go back to a knife and garlic smell on my hands I guess.

A mandoline slicer that has a very flimsy guard so I'm not even going to try it. I like my fingertips attached.

I know I'm griping. I'm just one who does not like other people to buy for me. It's never exactly what I ask for even if I spell it out in capital letters and so it ends up being a waste of money. I'd really rather not do gifts at all. Hubby is fine with it, but nobody else is.

I did have a nice holiday otherwise. The kids behaved well, everybody had a good time.

Java....have you ever tried using a micro-plane for your garlic? I gave up on presses long ago and swear by my micro-plane! This is the one I have:

Dace! That's awesome! I never even thought about it. I was trying to avoind smelly hands, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Oh well ...off to buy a microplane...
I have noticed a serious decline in quality of the small gadgets I need to replace. I'm going through a spell where everything is breaking at once and I can't find good replacements for what I had :barnie :barnie :barnie :barnie

I'm having trouble with spatulas and utensils to use in my pots and pans too. I want them to have slim handles so they fit in my crock right by the stove. But the all have these stupid ergonomic ginormous rubber grips that won't fit in the crock.

I must be in a mood today :hide feel free to :smack me

There is very little quality in the kitchen goodies you can buy today - perhaps super high end stuff would be better.
I bought a set of measuring cups a little while ago (my kids always take off with mine to play with) anyway, the FIRST time I used the stupid cup measure, the handle broke! Next time I look I'm going to go for stainless or something like that.

I got the best can opener I've ever used, it cuts the seal of the can, not the metal itself. Love it.
A pair of crazy footie pajamas that are toasty warm.
Books, Water Storage by Art Ludwig, Nourishing Traditions (got it early tho), a sweet pair of 12 ga spiral earrings, and my own copy of Beneath the Encasing Ashes by As I Lay Dying. DH wanted his back, lol.
