I hate 'em.

Left some small laundry on my little line last night between 2 trees. My dish towels. Had some big black spiders on them this morning.
BLECK!

Had to shake the far out of the line and the little dish towels.

WOW---I hate those things!!!!!

It seems to be spider time here. I seem to be running into nasty spiders in the barn more and they seem to be "coming out" all around.

Worst is those ones that make a big tunnel of web, in the hay bales, and jump out and scare my hair white. Woof, they are big! Hairy--nasty..LOL

Anyone having spider troubles?

I found a brown widow in one of my houseplants that I had just brought in yesterday. Of course I would put the plant in the bathroom on the back of the toilet for one of us to get bit in the rear by a poisonous spider. I hate spiders, too!

We have all these little "house" spiders. Granted they catch any bugs that get in the house, but once they start building webs in the corners & behind the curtains, they gotta go!
DH squished a couple & a few egg sacks. One of them burst open and there were all these teeny tiny spiders floating around him on their "balloons".
I was rather surprised to see his level of panic as these HUNDREDS of baby spiders floated around him. I don't blame him, he's just normally very level headed & calm around things that scare the pants off most folks, like snakes & spiders. The kids were fascinated by daddy's antics.

So anyways, I started vacuuming the corners & top mouldings of whatever room I'm vacuuming. Less entertaining! But less trouble too.

I hate the really icky ones . . . woodpile spiders give me the shivers. We have hobo spiders here . . . not sure if you all have them too . . . they are huge and gross looking and run really fast. Eeek! They come in the house this time of year. I used to kill them as soon as I saw them, but now I am trapping them and putting them out FAR away from the house.

Out in the field we have some striped spiders. I looked them up, but forgot already what they are . . . their bodies are very smooth . . . almost like a frog in a web. But they gross me out because they are soooo big and funky looking. They look like some creature from a Tim Burton movie.

But there are a few spiders that I actually like. We have some cute looking jumping spiders. People think I am crazy when I say they are cute, but they are kind of shy and pretty. They are mostly black with a round red fuzzy butt (almost velvety).

DM, are you talking about Garden Spiders?
We always have a few of those around the yard in warmer seasons. We call them all Charlotte. I like the way they bounce to scare you away from their web. We have wolf spiders too. And widows, recluses, blah blah blah. Icky, but fascinating :)

Okay, everybody do the creepy spider dance. You know, the one where you think you have a spider on you and your shoulders twitch and your feet want to run while your hands brush every accessable part of your body. :barnie

Yeah . . . that looks right, except that mine is hugely plump in the middle. She looks like a plastic teddy bear. I'm not sure that analogy works.

Funny, because I call garden spiders the brown chubby ones . . . let me see if I can get a photo too. Ok, here is the one I mean.

I walked into one of the first garden spider's webs one morning . . . the light wasn't right for me to see it. I'm sooo glad I had jeans on. Eeeeeewwww!

There are four different widow types if I remember correctly. Here is about the brown widow. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_Widow
Very important to know if you live in one of their areas simce they are very poisonous also and should be watched out for and NOT mistaken for just another spider like I did when I first saw one.
