Not bothered by running across spiders. We have very few occurrences of poisonous varieties, so I suppose that I have a false sense of security.
I've been bit twice this year: put my foot in shoe, got bit, pulled foot out and saw spider. Put hand in beans to pick, got bit, pulled hand out, saw spider. That last one was red hot painful like a yellow jacket sting, but went away in minutes with no repercussions what so ever.

We have what often gets called a "wolf" spider coming indoors this time of year. That get the size of a quarter with thick bodies and legs. Girl at work was on her desk yelling for help when one invaded the corner of her office. Make a mess with stepped on, though. :sick

:D I guess I'm not completely crazy then. These are my house pets. I try not to disturb them. I like to think they keep the other spiders in check. They also do not make webs, like other spiders do.

Quick story:

Growing up my mom named all the house spiders "Jimmy". I thought it was the same spider until I got older. Mom said it was bad luck to kill house spiders. Anyway I remember pointing out a random house spider saying, "Look Mom, its Jimmy!"

Oh, how I hate spiders. :tongue

Just yesterday in the greenhouse, I saw one running on the pea gravel against the plastic shelf.

It was so big it actually made a noise when bumped against the bottom shelf. Ewwwww!!!! :smack

I used to have a pet house jumper spider. It was black with white stripes. He/She had a baby who looked like it only smaller with different markings. They didn't bother me and didn't make webs, so I wouldn't let the kids kill it. His name was George and George Jr.(or Georgette, whichever)

We used to have those little black and white jumpers but I haven't seen them since I was a child. They were fascinating to play with/ watch.
