We have these "writing" spiders we call them here. WOW they give you a fright when you first run across or into one in the bushes...but they are cool though. I let them live. But big ya know! The yellow on them is wild-----I am not 100% sure if I got the right pic of this spider, but this one looks like it..HA HA

OK---a house pet spider! NO WAY JOSE! Ain't happening here..LOL

Jose :gig (perfect name!) Pronounce it "jo see" if it is a girl. :D

Hey farmerchick, we called those spiders "bananna spiders" when I lived in TX. They are perfect for the garden too. Just don't walk into that web! Those spiders can get as big as your palm!! :sick

I know BBH---they are huge! Cool to see but wouldn't want to be petting one! :)

Hey Drake---you got up CLOSE enough to have a look-see and conversation with this spider to ask and see if it is a female? WHAT?
LOL-LOL----whack with broom....then get the tissue and flush..hahaha

Hey we used to have billions of lightening bugs here....now I am lucky to see about 6 all thru the summer. it is amazing the decline of those lightening bugs. I guess they are getting wiped out???

 Well, we didn't exactly have a conversation . . . but we do have an understanding. ;)

I found a little cocoon she built and I just let her be. She left one day and about a week or so later, a little spider popped out. :) Only one . . . which I found interesting.

What is the deal with the lightening bugs? Do you know if it is just in your area or more general? That would be sad. I have never even seen one. We don't have them here. I always thought they were cool, though.

I walked Face First into a banana spider when I was a kid. :ep Came around the corner of the house right into its web and felt those bony legs. It covered half my face. EEEWW!
I'm okay with most spiders. They are allowed inside if they are not poison and stay out of my way.
I moved into one place that had lots of bugs around. A huge brown spider moved in and it was better than roaches so I said it could stay. It paid it's rent well by being a good exterminator. :hide It lived behind the headboard, which was a pretty weird feeling. Never came around to our side of it though. After a while, it was "normal" to have it there. Should I have named it?

LOL Dragonlaurel. That would give me the creeps.

Yes, you should have named your exterminator!

yea you should have named it then written that name on its tombstone!
:)

you guys have me cracking up living with pet spiders....honestly I see "anything" move in my line of vision and it is flushed!

well I did have a baby praying mantis in the house along with a few ladybugs and they were set free. The others---ca-ching!

I have no idea about the lightening bugs....I guess chemicals and range of habitat is making there numbers more scarce or weather pattern changes???? I dont' know but you used to be able to fill up jars with them...now if you spot one it is facsinating cause they just don't light up the night like before.

I bet more things are going extinct quicker and quicker and we just don't truly see the decline I guess.

Yeah, it's true. Sorry to hear about the lightening bugs, in particular. :(
