I grew a pancake patch being fifty feet long by four foot wide which yielded sixteen pounds of wheat berries, which in turn I mill into fresh flour ( Unbleached ) pure and wholesome.
I have never maxed out my garden space in a year. I can probably dedicate 30x90 to growing grain. That wouldn't be enough for my family for a year, but if it goes well we can add more somewhere else. I am thankful to not be limited by space. I'm limited by time and energy.
it also makes a great cover crop and when turned under it is a very good soil conditioner. i wish i could get Mom to let me plant winter-wheat and winter-rye as cover crops (along with other things too), but she is very stuck in her ways and doesn't like how they go. i think they look so much better than bare dirt.
Outstanding , time to get it in the ground as well , only takes a little then you can grind what is left over and start using it , then when it comes to harvest what you have you can cut , thresh , winnow , then enjoy !!
