Halfway through November already. wow. weather forecast is for clouds tonight, so the chance of seeing any of the meteor shower is low.

First cup of java is done. Trying to decide if I want to put the Christmas tree up today. :D

Hard to believe this year has almost run it's course. Time flies when you're old, lol! Don't have a lot of big plans today - gonna watch the Texans/Ravens game. Hope to get a couple chore done before and feed afterwards and get ready for tomorrow. Plan to work a couple of days this week and use up some PTO at the end of the week making for a nice long Thanksgiving break. Yippie! I get to practice being retired for 11 days or so.

Beautiful day outside - guess I should get out there and accomplish a couple of things.

Winter -- @Beekissed I like all you say about winter and it's loveliness. Unfortunately, most of the time that doesn't happen here. We rarely get much snow and even more rarely get over 3". Then it melts quickly, becoming dirty and icy. You live where this isn't like that and can enjoy the beauty of it. Being too coastal, the temps differ greatly. And I really hate COLD. Here, snow is just a messy thing. Every 8-10 years we have a "blizzard" here, get about a foot and it is pristine beauty!

We rarely get much snow anymore either.....used to get aplenty, but now it's more like your weather. Muddy, freezing and thawing, icy rains....lots and lots of rain. Every so often we get a foot~or three to five in the eastern part of the state~of really pretty snow, but not like we used to.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it would seem. ;) I don't LIKE the cold, but I love the variety of the seasons and the different landscapes that happen within them. I like the air quality in winter as opposed to the humidity of summer and I like what the cold can do for the gardens in the spring.

Mostly, I'm just grateful I can still SEE. I've lost most of the sight in one eye, so seeing is precious to me, no matter the weather. To me, it's all so beautiful merely because I can SEE it! Who knows if or when there will come a time when that is no longer something I'll be able to do. Winter, be it muddy, snowy, grey or white or brown, is something I cherish along with everything else I can see, smell, hear and experience.

Rainy day here. I'm thinking about a couple of little sewing projects to do. I rarely sew anymore, but when it's raining like this there's not much doing outside. I will have to get out at some point and muck pens, I'll wait and see if the rain tapers off.

Such a nice feeling to have the hay shed stuffed and the woodshed stacked and all the animals with snug shelters and water heaters set up. The September snow we got accelerated our winter readiness chores, it was kind of nice to get that kick in my procrastinating bum!

Good thing you haven't needed that board stretcher. I hate waste in a good building project. When we put the roof on the chicken coop, we found that half of the screws had the heads on the wrong ends. We were throwing those away (what a lot of waste!) until DH figured out that we could use all those "head on the wrong end" screws on the other side of the roof. I love that man. He's smarter than the average bear.

I put an other slug of fire wood in this afternoon. Slowly, but surely, the wood pile is getting smaller, while the racks are filling up. Freezing slop due tomorrow. A good 3 more sessions should see the job finished.
