I absolutely love currants. Unfortunately, it's illegal to plant them here in Maine. So, I buy Black Currant jam when I see it.

Are they invasive up there???

I actually have no idea where they are native.

No. They definitely are not invasive. I don't know if there are any wild ones growing, or not. IF some wild ones were found growing on my property, I would not be inclined to destroy them, since... surely they would be an endangered species, here in Maine!
