LOVE the quilt idea!!!

hikerchick said:
My goals are modest since I will be an apartment dweller.

Learn to can what I can buy at the farmer's market.
Make a quilt to celebrate the start of my new life.
Grow as much as I possibly can on my patio.
Learn to live in less than half the space with much less "stuff".

Don't know what mine will be for sure as we may move but I have some that will apply to both scenarios

1. prepare for homeschooling with the state/county and get all those ducks in a row
2. spend more time focusing on my children
3. be more active
4. build a bigger chicken coop
5. expand the garden and worm bed
6. save more money
7. prepare for my goats!
8. sell some quilts

Lots of good ideas from your lists,

Mine are,

1. Also scaling down, from 2 fields, to 1. (1/4 acre)
2. Use black plastic mulch to keep the weeds from going bonkers
3. Buy or scrounge 100yds. of pipe for micro-hydro.
4. Install gutters and make rainwater collection tank for ducks
and garden
5. Install small solar array and learn the basics.

1) Have a decent sized veggie garden with tomatoes, peppers, beans, and peas, at least

2) Learn and practice more herbal type health care, especially preventative stuff because it kinda looks like access to modern medical procedures is gonna be out of reach for us this year

3) Freecycle/give away/use all the extraneous stuff we have here in the house

4) Preserve extra food from the garden

5) Dust off and use my sewing machine
