My neighbors enjoy the free entertainment! The neighbors on each side both have no problem with the occasional escapee, fortunately. My fences *mostly* contain my critters....although lately, the hens have been going awol. I need to get in there one night soon and start clipping flight feathers on one wing each.

FD, your chickens and goats are the same size!!!
When I got the goats, they weighed about the same as some of my chickens too!

We have neighbors close too. We don't have as much open space out back though :(

Your place looks nice.

We have neighbor houses on all sides but one. Fortunately the one that has a big (or rather bigger) lot like ours, are the people with all the 'junk' in the yard, as well as goats and chickens. Only one of our neighbors has issue with our critters and they really were bothered more by the bees. We got tall solid redwood fences on the property bordering her yard. So we don't have to worry about them anymore.

It is amazing how Mya is so much bigger in every way than Ginger. I guess this suspense is what I'll have to look forward to next year.

We used two strands of electric on step-in fence posts to rotational graze our dairy goats years ago and found that when we moved it, they would watch very carefully and the lead goat would walk up and down the old fence line and not until she stepped across would the others come near the old line. They are very smart critters!:ep

I took udder pics today.. So far, of the first fresheners, Blossom has the largest - I was basing their due dates on when they went into heat (they were with the buck for a full month though), but it appears that I guessed wrong. Thing is, I'm happy about that :p I want babies, and I want them now!
I'll have to take more udder pics in a couple of days and start my own kidding thread.

I've got my fingers crossed for you Monique!

I just took some udder pictures, too, and am waiting for dh to come home to download them. After the rat excitement, it got kinda dark before I got to Ginger with the camera. Got some pics of Gunnar with his rat, too! Now the rat and the dead chick are in the trash can... :/ The last remaining chick has to live in solitude. I may try to rehome him to someone who has some seven-week-old chicks.

Oh.. That's right.. guess I overlooked the dead chick part.

Something died today and for once I was glad. I went out this morning and found the head of a nasty rooster that I have just been itchin' to get rid of. Guess an owl beat me. I wonder what my neighbors thought of me shrieking in happiness.

:p

mine are 7 weeks old. There are only 3 left, but they sure could use the company.

AGAIN... I sure wish you lived close.
