I got up early to read and participate here, then I will shower and wake everyone for church :) late service today!

I love this:
4 And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one persons envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
it is such a man's way to work hard because he wants more for his family, but really is that the reason or is it that he wants everyone to see and be envious of all that he has accumulated? And how do we ( as wives) stand up against a society that firmly believes in achievement?

This had a very political feel to it, sort of pointing out how silly it all is.
13 Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to heed a warning. 14 The youth may have come from prison to the kingship, or he may have been born in poverty within his kingdom. 15 I saw that all who lived and walked under the sun followed the youth, the kings successor. 16 There was no end to all the people who were before them. But those who came later were not pleased with the successor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Sort of like that line stating that most of us go to jobs we don't like to earn money for things we don't need to impress people we don't know! :p

It's a funny thing, but as I was growing up our neighbor's name was Jones. They had a big farm across the river and were, I guess, the most well-off folks in the area.

We felt no need to compete with them.... :p

Having been raised poor and learned to subsist on few material possessions, I had always had a sort of reverse snobbery for those people entrapped by their ideas of what signified "success". Wrong to feel superior, I know, but now I just thank God that I was shown early in life what measures success...and it wasn't material wealth.

I saw homes rich in laughter, fun and mutual respect~as well as a love of God~ that impressed me much more than homes rich in mere things.

Rebecca that picture really irks me! And lots of us dont do Christmas like most do. But Im a youngin and I reallly have no say in that department.

Dace, tribulation is the 7 year period when God's wrath is brought upon all people. Pretribulation is the time before tribulation. The rapture is a thought that God's people will be saved from his wrath. BUT Im starting to doubt it because the Bible says that people will be saved during the tribulation. My point is how could there be people saved during tribulation without any Christians left to administer the doctrine. Revelations also speaks of the martyrs during Tribulation.
Savingdogs and miss_thenorth, I wouldnt care to do Revelations but we need to get to know each other better because this book can cause arguments and feuds. And if we do Revelations, do know that we could possibly lose our thread because of feuds. But I firmly think we should do it so every person is educated about it. Because "Blessed are those who heed the words in this prophecy"......Revelations..
BB, don't forget the 144, 000 and the two witnesses that God will have on the Earth during the tribulation that are there to witness during these times.

I've always had the impression that the 144,000 were Messianic Jews but I could be entirely wrong about that. As I said before, I haven't attended a church willing to teach Revelations.

I am all for and end times study. I do remain confused in Revelations every time that I have read it, but I firmly believe that is the whole point.

I can't imagine being critical or argumentative with any of you regarding your interpretation of the Bible no matter what book we discuss. My belief system is firmly entrenched in the idea that there should be religious freedom and that it is all subject to personal interpretation and followings. That doesn't mean we don't share or influence each other, but it is peaceful, not strident or militant. It also doesn't mean I agree with all churches, but they are fine for those people who wish to go there, fine for them. I'm interested in how you look at this, not trying to convince anyone to think like I do. I'm pretty much universalist. I'm happy with whatever section everyone chooses, but hope we get to Rev at some point.

I'm enjoying reading what you all have to say about this section as well however.

Thats true. SInce Rebbetizin was on here and telling us how messianiac Judaism had grown in the last decade, thats exactly what I thought of when we did Revelations.
