OK, as long as I don't lose the internet again, I can post my thoughts on chapter 3 b4 I start in on chapter 4.
Verses 1-11 talks mainly about there being a time for everything, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to tear (as in mourning) and a time to sew (after the mourning period is done), a time to love and a time to hate, etc. And, God makes all things beautiful in its time. To me, this shows God's plans. He has a plan for everything and will bring it to pass when the time is right. Nothing happens by chance, even if it seems like it does. For instance, in the story of Ruth, it says in 2:3, she chanced upon a part of the field belonging to Boaz. This wasn't chance, this was God's plan, and from the "chance" meeting, came the line of David.
Christ was born when the fullness of time was come (Gal 4:4)
The world cannot see it. Instead, the scoff and say where is the promise of His coming, for all things continue as they were from the beginning. But what they fail to realize is that God is not slack concerning His promises, but is long suffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:3-9)
When we try to take things into our own hands because we get tired of waiting for God's timing, we mess things up. For example, Sarai was tired of waiting for God to fulfill his promise to Abram that he would have a son and suggested that maybe it would be thru her maid, Hagar. (Gen 16) And from this child comes the Arabs, and much of the problems in the world today.
Instead of saying we're going to do something, we should instead seek God's will in it. (James 4:13-15, Proverbs 3:5 and 6)
Later in the chapter, it talks about judgments. The judgment for a believer is much different than that of a non-believer. We'll be judged at the Bema seat for what we've done as a Christian-but not for our sins. They're remembered no more. (1 Cor 3:11-15, 2 Cor 5:10) However, those that don't know Christ will be judged at the Great White Throne. (Rev 20:11-15) Notice that they'll be judged according to their works. But, even the things that they've supposedly done for Christ will not be enough to get them into heaven. (Matt 7:21-23) It's only thru the blood of Christ that we are able to get into heaven.
