I'm not afraid to die. I'm a bit uncomfortable with the actual moment and process, but that is my flesh side. The spiritual side is ready to go  I wouldn't call it a fear though...more like a mild dread of the probability of fleshly discomfort involved. I don't look forward to pain...ever. Who really does?! When that time comes...I just hope it is quick and not long and drawn out. So no, not really "afraid" but not exactly looking forward to not being able to breathe...it's all I know...or maybe rather all I remember. :hu
Yeah I want it short and to the point..............

I've sit at the bedside of many dying people now and, if they weren't in any pain with their disease prior to the dying process, I've seen no evidence that dying is painful. Stressful to the body at times as different systems shut down, but most people seem to be in a comatose state and don't seem to register distress on their faces.

In the Bible it rarely states that a Christian has died, but rather describes them going to sleep.

I saw one dear lady who had been twisted in the neck and head during her life before dying and hadn't lifted her head in a long time, raise her head, open her eyes and smile a radiant smile just as she took her last breath. It was exhilerating to see that look of recognition on her face! The family were joyful right at the moment when they should have been distressed....they saw that look also and were comforted by it.

The most wonderful book I've read about preparing oneself for dying and entering Heaven is In Light of Eternity by Randy Alcorn. I've always been eager to leave this world for the next, but his book confirmed that my expectations were not in vain. He gathers all the scripture about it in one book and it really gives one a good look into what we may be anticipating.

I know this....I'm not going out of this world backwards, kicking and fighting. I'm going with my arms outstretched towards the Lord and eager to enter those gates.

The only deaths I have seen firsthand is a friend who shot himself in the head choking on his own blood and my uncle dying with scirrhosis of the liver saying he was "scared" right before he died....so maybe it's just my own experiences painting a bad picture for me. :hu

Nothing for me first hand, but I've been there close, timing-wise. Most of my relatives have gone peacefully, thank the Lord.

Yeah stay as far away from that as possible is my motto...I try not to walk up on things, but I am the one who found my friend and the one who kept the rest of the family from going crazy when my uncle passed. We all were expecting it, but hospice gave him pain meds and that killed his liver and put his body over the edge. Not pretty. Hospice didn't stay, she left the meds with the family to administer. She just dropped off the meds and left :hu I don't even think that is legal......but uh...it happened. :/
