Glad you perked up. I can get down and depressed with lack of sunshine. One day of grey skies and rain is okay, but 3 or 4 in a row and I feel myself getting the blues. That's the number one reason I don't want to live "up north" again. I enjoy the snow and 4 seasons, but the dreary winters are just that, dreary.

When we lived in California my sister had two avocado trees. Those things were the BEST. I love avocados. But they totally won't grow here.

I've seen people grow lemon trees as like a house plant/tree though. I wonder if that could be done with an avocado? I know it takes a long time before they become mature.

I would think an avocado tree would be too large to grow indoors. The one my brother-in-law had towered over their two-story house. (Fond memories of entire shopping bags full of avocados at Christmas time-- )

I suffer from SADD, but I also hate heat so I prefer living further north. I know I will go into a slight depression every winter, and I've learned to live with it. I've thought about buying one of those special lights I've read about, but it's money we don't have...:(

speaking of ibuprofen, I discovered that prickly pear has amazing anti-inflammatory properties. I've been buying them at the market and freezing them after peeling off the skin. My husband has lots of chronic pain due to a misspent youth, and the 'tunas' (latino name for them) really help.

if you cant afford full spectrum SADD lighting try looking into just 1 ful spectrum light, (doesnt even have to be medical, fishtank or plant lights work great as long as its a FULL SPECTRUM bulb and put it neer the spot you sit the most frequently in winter. also bright colors in the home help!

You would have to really keep it trimmed down to make avocado work as an indoor tree. The other catch is that it needs a buddy to pollinate each other. I will be wanting to figure out a way too, cause life without guacamole would be a sad place.

Today was even worse. I left the house and got all the way across town before i realized that i had left my cell phone behind. I spent the day waiting in lines and at the IRS office. I was there for the rest of the afternoon, and sure enough, it was closing time before i had gotten in to see anyone. I have to go back on Monday and waste another afternoon. Then to top things off, my fan belt broke and the truck over-heated. I had to pull into a gas station and hose the radiator down for thirty minutes. I finally made it home and realized, now that i really need a drink, i'm out of vodka! Where's my prize for biggest loser?
Somebody bring me a fan belt and a gallon of hooch! I'm ready to put this day behind me!

Sometimes when my day is too bad, I just go to bed and go to sleep.....rest seems to usually help my outlook at least.

I'm sorry I can't help with the hooch or the fan belt. :hugs

Perhaps a walk in your beautiful garden will help. Go pull some weeds or just sit in the shade and think of the next project you would like to tackle.

anything to get your mind off the cruddy day.
