Just sstarted a small garden center. Have deconstructed and reconstructed 4 houses that are 18' X 96'. In Michigan, we took a temperature reading in July...the mercury topped out over 140 degrees. Either put roll-ups on the sides, or take the plastic off!!! Plants stop growing in the mid 80's. Even cactus. Have you ever had deformed green peppers? Or wondered why they fall off or the flowers abort? Temperature is a huge factor in plant & vegetable production.
You can use many different thicknesses of metal. It depends on your snow load. More snow...sturdier metal bows placed closer together. Less snow, fewer load bearing worries. Plastic needs to be UV stabilzed. Anyone can buy from www.farmtek.com. They have plastic in many widths, cut to any length, at a fair price. One year rating is thin and in my opinion suited only to no snow areas, or applications where very little snow will be encountered while in use. The 3 year plastic can last for years....and after it is worthless as greenhouse covering you can repurpose it for dropcloths and anything you dream up.
