Wed Feb. 23, Wow time is flying.

Let's see......

I went to the desert with family and friends for the long weekend. kids had a great time. We had rain Fri into Sat. So Saturday was mud whomping day. :D My favorite. I'll post some pics later.

Second, I can't find my eye glasses. Well they are my back up pair which makes it worse. My wire frames snapped in half about two weeks ago. So I was wearing my less than fashionable plastic. Now they are lost. I imagine in the camper but have yet to show themselves.

So I am basically blurry!! :barnie

I have not written in a while. I was a bit flustered with life. Still am but nothing to do about it.

Dh is taking a new job. He has been offered a very nice wage and part ownership. A very small part, of the new company his Dad and 3 others are running. The whole thing makes me ill. But I am trudging on with my dreams in my pocket.

And I guess they will stay there for a bit. :hit

So lets see on the SS front....

Veggie starts are over grown in the laundry room. I need to get my pumpkins in the ground.

Chickens are laying well.

I think my Turkey hen is sitting. When I came home from the desert I labeled 10 eggs, and left them hoping a hen would set. When I went back there was a turkey. She was in the next box over. so I shoved all the marked eggs under her. The problem is she is to big for the box. I think I need to move her and the eggs.

Will a turkey take care of chickens?? I don't think the turkey eggs will be fertile. My tom is lame. So If she can hatch anything I will be happy.

DD has been gluten free for over a month now. She is doing well. Smiling more that's for sure and no crusty skin on her face. I should examine her other dry spots and see how they are doing.

Son is on a new pill. He is doing well. The state project is killing me. We had to do a physical features map while we were in the desert. What a pain.

DD5yo is feisty as ever.

Daddy daughter dance is Sat. We need to get shoes for 7yo today.

Sil b day on Sunday.

I mentioned to 7yo her birthday is in a couple weeks. She had no idea. So I need to get working on that. I am going to give her that huge Breyer horse barn I got on CL for Christmas and did not use. I found some horses on sale at my feed store. I think I might go to the craft store and look for those little hay bales to go with.

I went to see the Orthopedic Surgeon for my shoulder last week. he ordered x rays and I am supposd to have an MRI. I guess I should call on that. :hu It's feeling a bit better but still gets sore if I lift it to much.

Heck other than that it's just regular old life every day.

I wish I had spring cleaning fever like Abifae. I have decided to just get rid of everything.

Maybe a clean house and garage will make me feel better.

Glad for the update.

Sorry your shoulder is still bugging you and that the job situation is turning out like you feared. :hugs Everything is in God's time. Believe me I tell myself that on regular occasions. Perhaps that perfect Missouri farm is not quite ready for you yet. :)

Glad you all had fun in the desert, even with (or because of) the rain. It is good to just get away and play. You are fortunate that you are not as blind as I am. If I lost my glasses I would just have to sit still until I got some more.

If I have a broody I always try to move them to a private pen anyway, so I think you should go ahead and fix up a spot for the turkey. Raising chicks might be good practice for her. I have seen chickens raise ducks and guinea fowl and a cat raise a litter of rabbits, so I don't think the turkey raising chicks should be much of a problem. :D

Thanks you guys. Yes FF in good time. I just see this as a postponement of my Farm Life. More time to save some money and develop my skills.

FF I have that small hut I built originally for the turkeys. It is on the ground and mostly wire. But secure and I could put a tarp over the top and down the sides. Do you think the turkey hen would be good in there? Or maybe just a dog crate in the big coop?

As of this morning she is still in the chicken nesting box. With her whole tail hanging out. :( It's a tight fit.

I'm gonna go figure out a nest box for her.

Quick question for creepy meat birds. do you order with vaccines???

I am going to take the plunge and rder 25 Cornish X. I am in the check out and they are asking if I want the Merrick's shot etc...

Should I order some of that quick chick Electrolytes?? What about the "BBC Broiler Booster 4 oz - Contains everything in Quick Chick PLUS biotin, which counteract weak legs and yield of stronger, healthier meat birds".

Do I need it?

I never get them vaccinated and never buy any gro-gel or other stuff. They seem to do just fine without it. ;)
