Dace I get my pullets from the feed store here in Vista. I know the have a ton of birds right now. Not sure if any are white layers.

How much did the feed store charge you for your DE?

I think I will pick up a bag next time I go in. I need some more scratch!

:D

If I am not mistaken it is just called Country Feed Store, in Vista.

If you care to take a seven hour drive, I have a store in Berkeley CA. So if your ever out that way stop in and have a look around. I use to also have a showroom there, but with sales falling off in the area, I had to close it.

I'm sorry for ya Gina, but you know something good is going to come out of all this.

Yesterdays Harvest!!!!!

My garden and homestead are sure providing this year. Well enough to eat healthy, that's for sure. Went out in the garden after the sun had started to go down. The temperature is cooling down and the kids like to get their wiggles out after dinner.

This is what I picked for just this evening.

My tomatoes are just starting to color up. These are the last of the cucumbers. Both pickling and slicing. I think I might be able to plant another round. It's still so early in the season. My onions turned out ok. This is the first year I have grown them. Kinda small but I ended up with about 30.

Oh and don't forget the eggs!!

I pressure canned some beans this week. Last time I did the quick soak this time I overnighted them.. I think they might be a bit mushy. We'll see which I like best.

The whole work thing is still up in the air. We have not lost our job yet but at the end of the month we will have to have something decided.

Oh, the business meet and greet for the "family" They moved it and neglected to tell us. Yes that's right, can you believe it. I called on Fri afternoon and confronted my fil on the phone. I was so nervous I was shaking. He basically admitted to cutting us out of the picture. Of course he did I can't imagine how having his soon to be unemployed, cancer surviving son and his family there would be good. It would just bring to everyone's attention how ruthless he is and how screwed we got.

I actually caught him in a lie. We avoided him and the rest of the family all weekend and did not answer their calls. My fil showed up at my house Sun afternoon without calling first to talk to my dh. The story goes on on on but I wont bore you with the details. I just know it's not over yet.

Oh, I am so bored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a ton to do but can't motivate. :caf

I think I will hang out a load of wash. I have been having washing machine trouble. Caused I am sure by my homemade soap. The fels recipe. The globs are clogging up the soap filling line, I guess thats what you call it. so I have just started pouring a cup right on the clothes and then closing the door. It's a high capacity front loader. I thought the door was leaking. I keep having water leak out all over the floor. Anyone else have this problem. I have called the fix it man 3 times. Thank goodness I have the extended warranty. He asks what soap I am using. Innocently I just say "liquid" :hide

Well off to find something to do. Have a great day.

Gina, I don't have an HD washer. But for the fels homemade soap, I am using a scant 1/4 cup for an oversized load. I also use white vinegar in the rinse - I put half vinegar and half water in the softener dispenser of the machine. You could try diluting the soap and shaking it really well because it sounds to me like you don't have enough water in the soap. We have been using the homemade for 2 years without any problems.

Ugh sorry to hear about all the negative stuff...right down to the washer!

Yay on your harvest! I love those little yellow pear tomatoes, one of my faves :)

What kinds of chickens do you have? Your eggs are beautiful!

Thanks Dace. I love those little tomatoes as well.

chickens, hummm.... coop 1.... 2 buff orps, 4 Rhode Island Reds, 6 barred rocks,
6 ameraruacanas(sp), and one very satisfied Barred Rock Roo. Not all of these birds are laying. The 2 buffs are really old. Not sure how old I can't remember when I got them. Must have been a few years back.

coop 2 .......... 12 new golden sex links. Just started laying in the last 2 weeks. :weee

Wow Girl you have a lot of chickens!

I love the variety of your eggs. As I said before DH wants white eggs, but I find that kind of funny because he eats what I set in front of him and he would never know if his eggs came from green, brown or white eggs ...but I figure I will indulge him for the rare occasion he is in the kitchen.
