hmm.....

and that is horrible a little kid has to fight that battle, good thing being he has the best kind to battle!!!! ugh the poor family!

and yes you are right. basic healthcare for everyone should happen, it must. a sick nation does not progress.

I think the advice is directed at people that sill have steady jobs. Remember unemployment is at 11-20% depending on who you listen to.
But Obama said that wouldn't happen if they passed his stimulus bill:

Oh, let me guess....it went higher than that because of hope and blame....
Hey you're the expert Scott. If you heard it on Fox opinion TV then it must be right.

wow. so defensive

Yet no supportive statements for Mr. Obama?

He did promise the rate wouldn't go above 8.5 if we passed that bill....

What happened?

Fox Opinion TV? And what does that make MSNBC?

It's politics. This happens. Seems kind of disingenuous to imply that it is somehow specific to this administration.

Also, while there are certainly people on this forum who voted for Obama, some of whom were/are fairly optimistic about what he could do, I don't think that a very large fraction of him has quite the degree of opinion of him that you seem to think liberals/progressives/whatevers do ;)

I will make a supportive statement, though, if it would make you happy to see your dreams realized. Not that I was especially in favor of him, though if I'd bothered to vote I would NOT have voted for McCain (certainly not after his runningmate was named). "President Obama has only been in office less than a year, and it will take a loooong time to sort this mess out, and a while before his policies really settle in and have time to do things, so I'm not sure how fair these snap judgements are at this point in time".

You could substitute in any other president's name, at this point in their term, and I'd say more or less the same thing, except that the current mess is much bigger and longer-term and nastier than what most other presidents have faced.

Personally I neither wildly support NOR wildly denigrate/despise him; I think he is the elected President of the United States and deserves *some* measure of respect for his position and for the magnitude of what he's trying to do, and only in ten or twenty or more years will we really be able to judge intelligently whether what he did turned out to be a good idea or a bad idea.

You think running the country is so darn easy, YOU try it :p

I'm glad you're getting healthcare and that your son has a full-time caregiver. May I ask how you're receiving healthcare without insurance?
Simple. I take care of most of my health issues myself. I solved a lot of my health problems by doing the opposite of what the government tells you to do for nutrition. That was a great start and cured my hypertension. I also have a chiropractor I pay cash or I barter services with. She will tell me if I need to see an MD for a particular issue. Most things can be taken care of through Emergicare or other "doc in the box" places. Again...cash. If I need to go to the hospital, I make payment arrangements. I have a great credit history with the local hospital.
