Her full name is "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini", her Mama's full name is "Teeni Weeni" (we bought her w/ that name), and what started all this nonsense was her Grand Dam's and her name is "Itty Bitty"
That's pretty neat!
And she is soooo pretty!!

ya gotta keep up with journal, man!
I know, I'm a slacker  When I do my journal I actually have to think. I can't just jump in, read something and comment if I want too.

But, back at our ranch, we've been getting ready for spring WHOOT!!!

- We hatched out 13 chicks last week

- Took the family to Great Wolf Lodge over in Sandusky, OH (AWESOME TIME) :weee

- Our 14yr old son, keeps slacking off and not doing his work at school, and so much more. Soooo he spent his spring break shoveling out the barn and being pi$$ed at momma and me. Then he thought he'd be smart and shut off the garden tractor, but didn't turn the key all the way off and ran the battery dead, so he thought he'd be done. BUT NOOOOOOooooo, I got him the wheel barrow so he could truck it out to the field and spread it by hand.
I know I'm a rotten Ba#$@*d, but he'll learn!! Hopefully :idunno

- On my journey thru OFG's journal, I found pic's of a 10'x12' chicken tractor made w/ cattle panels and 2x8's, so I made one of those too, just waiting for it to get a little warmer and we'll fill it w/ "creepy meats"

- I also made a "turd tray" under one of the rows in our rabbit room. I've been going round and round on how to do it, and what to make it out of. So I'm trying 2x2's and plastic sheeting this time. We'll see how it works.

- We bought a new mower, and momma got a little meditation time and mowed the first time of the season. She like to go out and just veg out, mow and not have to worry about anything else for a couple hours.

But other than that, going to work for the man 9-10hrs a day, just sitting around watching TV, doing nothing. :he

I'll try to get some pic's if I can!!

Happy Thursday everybody, WHOOT

Thanks OFG!!

And we're off and running for the week-end.
I just got to work, and got a call from Momma, she's all in a tizzy. :barnie Son is out doing his morning chores (he does the AM and I do the PM) and he comes running in screaming that one of the does is in labor. whoot!!

Well of course it's today, Momma volenteered to work at the girls school for G-parents day and now she's late getting ready and getting to the school, can I come home and deal w/ the goats :he

So called the boss, (He's cool) ran home (7 miles so not too bad) I get there, kid is on the ground, completely dry and nursing. I'm like, this guy is several hours old, this Doe is not in labor, WTH. Well she was passing her (SORRY OFG, LOOK AWAY!!) placenta.

So all is well, except the buckling was favoring his front leg. So called friend "Roll" and we think the BoSe that the Doe got was too long ago(6ish weeks) gave him a 1/2cc shot and made a little TP roll splint and here he is.

Love that splint!!!!!

My vet was telling me that she's recommending giving BoSe to does about 2-4 weeks prior to kidding now as opposed to giving the kids a shot upon birth....now I'll admit I've NEVER given any doe or kid a BoSe shot until this year. Everyone's always been really healthy, so I guess I'm lucky, but going forward I'm going to follow her advice.

Congrats on the buckling, too!!

Thanks,

This is good to hear, b/c that's the same advice I got. I love it when I hear the same thing from multiple sources, soooo reassuring.

Especially on opposite sides of the US - or sorta opposite.

I had a little buckling born a few weeks ago and the vet was there to assist (prolapse). She gave him a shot of BoSe because his little ears were drooping as opposed to erect or airplane (he's mostly nigerian). I was amazed that within an hour one of his ears perked right up and the other followed the next day! That's when she told me about giving the shot before birth....
