The ended up using 26 bags of insulation, and told me that all I had was a find dusting of deteriorated paper on the 2x4's. The house was built about 40 years ago, and it has never been insulated in that time.

Now I send a form in to the gas Company and get a rebate of about 15 cents per square foot. And that goes into the roof fund !

Good point ! I am freaking out about how suddenly quiet it is here. I keep expecting Jack Nicholson to break through the door or something.

I sure hope it helps as much as it ought to in the summer. $200 a month to cool a house to 85 is pretty steep.

Well, this is step one. Long story.

Reader's Digest: Can't do roof until insulation is R30 (city reg).

Couldn't get existing energy program to do insulation until roof doesn't leak. Catch 22.

Used insurance money earmarked for roof repair to insulate attic.

Now am raising money to pay for materials so Habitat for Humanity can provide the labor.

Took 26 bags of insulation to do a 1400 square foot attic. $650

Three hours until the cookie fundraiser starts and I have sold half already ! A woman I used to work with heard from DD what I was doing and ordered two dozen ! Woo Hoo !!
