Apples. When I am wiped out but just can't sleep yet I will eat an apple or maybe two sometimes if its really bad. Its a short term burst of good stuff to get you through.
My sweet husband insists that grapes are better and demanded that I tell you so
I took a nap today. I was exhausted and had a bad headache. A 1.5 hour nap did the trick for me. Did what I had to do in the morning to make sure animals had food/water and no alpaca births, then took my nap. I'm feeling much better now and can keep working on the chores.
a bottle of wine before bed! it works for me because it makes me sleep like the dead but it's not enough to have side effects the next morning. i seriously get more done in a day after a mini wine coma.
my friend Barb uses that Emergen-C and she said it does something good for her but she can't put her finger on it lol just makes her feel better some how
sleep is a biggie I get about 5 up to maybe 6 a night
at this age of hitting 50 I think I do need more now I gotta do the slow down before bed and just hit the sheets and get more sleep and hit the sheets and get more hahaha
no wine coma for me lol wine does bad things to me, even a few glasses, but 1/2 bottle of rum might help but I think I would feel that in the morning lol
but thanks all
gonna read this again and write it all down and start applying ways to get my energy back up to snuff
B Complex and calcium supps taken just before bed can help with sleep, especially if that is a need your body has. If you have variations in genes that determine your efficiency with absorption and utilization of these, you need more than the standard dosage and may need it in a form that is more absorbable than what is available on the shelves of your local store.
Don't buy supplements that are so cheap the cost of the supplement is what the company probably spent on the bottle, label, and labor! I get these catalogs all the time, as a massage therapist....it goes something like this: Only $5 for a month's supply! Or buy 6 for only $10! Buy a case of 12 for only $15!
Those scare me. Of course, I am a bit scared of contamination, especially from things sourced from countries far away with even less regulation than we have here.
When I was in my 30s and 40s I could do that stuff, but in my 50s it just doesn't happen anymore. I need seven to nine hours, nine is really good. I think it is age. My mother is in her 80s and takes a nap every afternoon. She looks GREAT, is in incredibly good health and people who see her think she is in her 60s, not 80s. Maybe I inherited the need for sleep from her, or perhaps I just see an example of what plenty of good sleep does for a person that I have emulated.
I think it is like chickens....do you want to burn them out and have tons of eggs with lights and heat all winter but have them stop laying at age three? Or do you want to let them take the winter off and keep them till they are eight?
Since the chicken is YOU, I'll turn the lights out, thank you very much!
I have been doing some reading on the activated form of CoQ10 (the best part of fish oils) and I might start that. Have not tried it yet but I need something too, chronically overtired from years and years of shiftwork, which is havoc on many things, but for me I get tired and joint pain.
Anyway there are studies on Ubiquinol if you want to look them up. That's the name of the active form, which after age 35 we don't make ourselves so well anymore apparently.
Now that I am a part time student as well as working full time and running a farm I need more than an apple and tea or coffee in the am. I second the apples though, they are a huge pick up! Caffeine might work, or it can just make me jittery or grumpy some days. Never tried the energy drinks for that reason.
