I started the soup thing last winter when money started getting tight.

I would just throw all the veggies and whatever meat I had into my crockpot & set it on low for 24 hours. We'd eat some of it the next day, and I'd add more veggies to the mix, more water, broth, wine, whatever, then reset the timer. If we went to a friend's house, no worries. It was on low & just continued to cook.
It gradually morphed from one type of soup to another, depending on what I added to it.

I haven't done that this year yet. Too warm for the most part, DH wouldn't want the crockpot on all day with no AC. It heats up the house, just not as much as the oven. But it's getting that time again. :D
Oh man, that is just about the coolest idea ever! I am totally going to do this! Awesome!!

Well I was just a little worried about it since it was meat...don't know why exactly other than I don't know what temp the low setting on a crock pot cooks at.

That is how my mom made soup. When asked what kind of soup we were having that day she said, "Good Soup".
haha ^_^

Sometimes when my kids ask me what we're going to eat, and I've not been able to make the meal plan for the week, I'll say "Food." And they'll say, "What kind of food?" My reply, "The kind you eat" And they'll say, "Buuuut Moooom What kind of food you eat??" "The good kind"

Good soup, I'm using that. :D
My granny taught me to make soup like that, only on the stove, cause she didn't have a crockpot.
Hmmm, okie, I guess you'd have to decide for yourself on it, without actually knowing the temp. Is your crock (the actual ceramic piece) hot enough to burn you when it's running on low? Or is it cool enough to pick up without potholders?
If its the first or close to the first, eat it, for sure. If it's the latter... Well. I probably wouldn't, but I doubt your crockpot cooks that low..
