I gotta go do some banking business this morning, and my mom wants me to come by and "help her figure out some stuff on the computer" so if I don't turn back up by tomorrow... My mom is a trip, and SOOOOOOOOO non computer savy. It drives me nuts sometimes because she rings my phone every 10 minutes when she gets on the computer just to look something up. It has been that way for years though, she never remembers what she done to get where she wanted to get, so that she is ever able get back to it the next time. She's so cute!!! :love I have to teach her a few things again :) And she has gotten her email out of whack somehow. The screen format is only showing her half her emails, so I have to figure out what she did and undo that. By the time I get back, R may have the tractor finished. So, if I don't get pics of everything....sorry in advance!!!!

My mom is the same way! I tell her, I write it out step by step and it just doesn't work for her. It's really probably a good thing or she'd be doing so much online shopping... that woman...!

This is the framework. We ripped two by fours to make 2x2's to use for all the framing. This is an 8x8 tractor.

Then we used 1x1 inch welded wire to cover the sides. It took two 15 foot rolls, and we have about 6 inches left over.
2291_tractor_002.jpg

This is where we left an opening to put a piece of panelling so we could slide the feed trough in and out for easy feeding.

This is the finished side for the feeder panel.
2291_tractor_004.jpg

This photo shows how we attached the wire, with staples every inch, just for added security.
2291_tractor_005.jpg

This photo shows the piece that braces the base and holds it square, on top the tin will do the same.
2291_tractor_006.jpg

We marked off and cut the hole to match the piece of gutter here, and nailed the panel on, and inserted the feed trough.
2291_tractor_007.jpg

This blurry photo is supposed to show how it slides out the panel to be filled, and then will slide back in.

On the inside left, is an extra 2x2, that is the support beam for when we have a heavy full feeder in there.

Thanks jamie :) What we have left to do is simple, cover the top, add the wheels and handles to pull it. Even with 2x2's this thing is a bit on the heavy side, so we want to make sure we have a couple good strong wheels to add to the back that won't bog down or be too small to move it sufficiently. I'll get pics of that part of the project as we get it done.

Some sort of handle/gripping bar works wonders, too. No pinchy-da-fingers...
