This is Spatz, couldn't get the photo to look right, poor lighting etc. but you get the idea. I'll get better pics on a warmer day

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, COWS! I want cows, but I really don't have room for them unless I get rid of the mini horses and about a dozen goats....

They are so cute!

Oh, so cute! :love I love Spatz markings! Beulah looks cute too - and she's in milk now too, right? Oh, I envy you - lots of fresh milk and cream! :)

fem, you gotta get cows

SSD, beulah is not in milk, she is 14 months old. We'll breed her my Amish friends bull in June, and hopefully have a baby by next Spring :) I'm getting her 5 month old sister this coming Friday, and Spatz will be sold or beef :drool

Okay - true confessions here.... I'm kinda, just a tiny little bit, afraid of cows! Crazy, huh? I think it comes from working with a vet and seeing just how crazy cows can be! I've always heard that Jersey's are so sweet, and I even had a little bottle baby once, but I kinda like critters that are smaller than me! But, I still kinda want one - but I'm thinking Dexters or something mini-ish...

I'm a little nervous around cows as well. I think it's because of their size, and I've never really had anything to do w/them. But, when I get my own land, I want cows, the miniature Jerseys. I did some reading on them yesterday, and apparently, what we call mini Jerseys are actually the size they were originally. They don't look to be any taller than a goat, just stockier.

I am too ya'll...sheesh, it's a perfectly healthy fear based out of self preservation instinct  I had a big bull chase me down the pasture as a kid trying to kill me. It was kind of awesome though, because at 4 foot tall I cleared a 3 foot fence gate like an Olympic runner over the hurdles without so much as grazing the top  I was terrified, think I was about 10 years old then...I still have that little healthy anxiety when I get around cows :p These Jerseys are very gentle, they let me walk around them, between them, and in their stall without any problems. They won't let me touch them yet, but with time, that will come as well. They are just as leary of me as I ever was of them. We'll come around to a mutual respect so long as none of us do anything stupid before we have an understanding ;) Hamburgers are so tasty, and just enough motivation to make me want to face my fear :D

I am staying home from church today, pup is sick...looks like she's probably wormy :sick which is typical of a 6 week old pup. I'm keeping my eye on her and dosed her with a wormer a bit ago. I have to get the animals fed this morning, and cook her some more food. Apparently the garlic hasn't helped as much as I'd hoped it would as a preventative. I really did NOT want to treat her before she is a little bigger, but.....can't win em all. :hu

DD screwed up yesterday while I was working. She gave the cows a 2.5 gallon bucket of grain and no hay :/ She tried, she really didn't know any better. It was my fault for forgetting to tell her how much they get. I told her WHAT they get, but not the ammount. I hope it doesn't hurt them. They seem okay this morning. I have no idea how much my uncle was giving, but they won't be getting much grain here, and I want to wean them off entirely unless it's home grown. I think we took a step backward yesterday though :p

On an entirely different note....I have no clue what to cook today. We're tired of about everything, and I hate when it gets like that. I'm craving a big greasy sausage dog :gig but I know I don't need that! I'm gonna go wander off and think of something we haven't had to eat in a while and lay something out of the freezer for dinner.

Maybe it's a guy thing and/or being raised around cattle. Just never turn your back on them.

Raising them from calves turns them into big babies when they are older. LOL
