Pinky, I'd trade you a trio for the guineas if you want. They aren't anything spectacular, just pet quality. That'd leave me a trio of them as well I think. I can bring them to you and get the guineas ......sometime (?) this week maybe. I've been meaning to get up with you on those guineas anyway  I am just SO BUSY!!! :p I have so much to do here, just don't hold me to it on getting them this week.

Jamie, I don't turn my back on them either ;)

Maybe it's a guy thing and/or being raised around cattle. Just never turn your back on them.

Raising them from calves turns them into big babies when they are older. LOL
Being raised around them, I'd say, since I'm the same way and female :D I raised a Hereford steer on a bottle when I was 13 or 14. He was HUGE (wish I had a pic of him/I :( ) but followed me around like a puppy when I worked the fields - stood at the fence line waiting for me to give him a scratch under the chin
An intact male can turn on a dime, and even a steer or heifer can put you through a barn wall if they get a mind to ;) People often question why I take precautions with Ferdinand, AND Ice Cream - they may be cute and little and everything, but they will finish out anywhere from 350-700#, which is a LOT more than me!

Truth is, I am very fearful of Billy goats (BAD experiences in early childhood) and they are much smaller than me!

I am too ya'll...sheesh, it's a perfectly healthy fear based out of self preservation instinct  I had a big bull chase me down the pasture as a kid trying to kill me. It was kind of awesome though, because at 4 foot tall I cleared a 3 foot fence gate like an Olympic runner over the hurdles without so much as grazing the top  I was terrified, think I was about 10 years old then...I still have that little healthy anxiety when I get around cows :p These Jerseys are very gentle, they let me walk around them, between them, and in their stall without any problems. They won't let me touch them yet, but with time, that will come as well. They are just as leary of me as I ever was of them. We'll come around to a mutual respect so long as none of us do anything stupid before we have an understanding ;) Hamburgers are so tasty, and just enough motivation to make me want to face my fear :D

I am staying home from church today, pup is sick...looks like she's probably wormy :sick which is typical of a 6 week old pup. I'm keeping my eye on her and dosed her with a wormer a bit ago. I have to get the animals fed this morning, and cook her some more food. Apparently the garlic hasn't helped as much as I'd hoped it would as a preventative. I really did NOT want to treat her before she is a little bigger, but.....can't win em all. :hu

DD screwed up yesterday while I was working. She gave the cows a 2.5 gallon bucket of grain and no hay :/ She tried, she really didn't know any better. It was my fault for forgetting to tell her how much they get. I told her WHAT they get, but not the ammount. I hope it doesn't hurt them. They seem okay this morning. I have no idea how much my uncle was giving, but they won't be getting much grain here, and I want to wean them off entirely unless it's home grown. I think we took a step backward yesterday though :p

On an entirely different note....I have no clue what to cook today. We're tired of about everything, and I hate when it gets like that. I'm craving a big greasy sausage dog :gig but I know I don't need that! I'm gonna go wander off and think of something we haven't had to eat in a while and lay something out of the freezer for dinner.
I'm making chicken -n- dumplings for dinner here. Yummy comfort food, cuz it's coooolllddd here :)

Well, I made a pound of cheese today, just a basic farmer cheese with garlic and chives out of some milk the neighbor gave me. I was supposed to go grocery shopping today and start some more plants, work on fences, and a few other things. Somehow that turned into entertaining my parents for 3 hours and my niece staying over for the day. She'll be going home here shortly and I have no clue what I'm making for dinner *sigh* I got nothing done really. It's kind of annoying, but I do like spending time with niecey girl :)

The guy we had coming tomorrow with a 4 wheeler to pull some steel out isn't coming. Bad news for us, but I'm tickled pink for him, because the reason he can't come is he's going to work!!!! :woot He felt bad about standing us up, but I told him it's NO PROBLEM and congratulated him for going to work!! That was awesome!

I dunno how I'm going to get all this stuff done this week after getting so far behind on Monday and a cancellation on help for Tuesday, but....it'll get done eventually. I'm not in a big rush to slaughter the roosters, but everything else needs done A.S.A.P. so we can get this garden going and growing!! guess I gotta buckle down the rest of the week and knock some of it out on top of hauling steel. Friday I go get my other cow :D so I basically have 3 days left with 5 days worth of work :gig Story of my life ;)

Hey, I accomplished next to nothing today too :he Took just a bit shy of 8 hours of driving to go see a mediocre movie with DS today. Ugh. Had to pick up the sister, drop her off at our Aunt's house (who I don't care to visit), before DS could use his 2 year old gift certificates to treat us to a movie, then back to Aunt's, then back to brother's to drop off sister, then home. One whole day shot! I did get a SHOCK - have you been to the movies recently? I haven't. DS bought the tickets ($7.75/each for matinee!) and I figured I'd buy us popcorn and a soda. :ep I didn't have enough money for both of us!! $21 for two popcorn's and two sodas :th $3.25 for a candy bar! My 'thrifty' heart just couldn't take it!
