They dont believe in extra credit down here.
I honestly wish they didn't here. It's crap. They should do the work in the first place. :hu
Yeah I agree (only because Im the son of one of the hardest teachers at the high school)
With the eldest, I'm okay, because she's extremely motivated. Has 103% in Honors Algebra II. The some of the other honors classes, it's helping her hold onto A's.

What irks me is in the lower grades, good behavior in class can earn you homework "exemptions". Problem is, you don't get a 100% for the assignment, it just doesn't go into your score total. So get a pass on number of assignments and then choke on a real one and you're hosed.

Depends on a "hard" means - :D I've had and respected demanding teachers with high standards (sounds like your mom), but also teachers that were a pain in the patootie just to be difficult that I don't respect.

My 12th grade Government teacher - gay as the day is long, but had very high standards. His flamboyant style would never cut it today, but we LEARNED Government from him and we had to work hard.

Then there was the typing instructor. As a senior, I and 2 of my buddies took a 10th grade typing course with about 20 sophomore girls. The first day of class he pulled us aside and said if we sat in the back, made and honest attempt to do the work, he would promise a grade no less than a "B", no matter how poor our WPM skills ended up being. :)

My two most favorite teachers. :D

My very favorite was my senior year US Govt. teacher. I almost failed that class, long story there, tough time in my life, but instead of allowing me to fail he MADE me do a long paper on a specific topic of his choosing to make the D necessary to pass. I worked during the entire week of graduation for that grade, and graduated with my class. That was SO hard with all my circumstances at the time, but it made me really appreciate Mr. Williams not just letting me slip through the cracks. I would have had no choice but to quit if I couldn't graduate at the time I was supposed to because I had to work. He was awesome. :)

On another note I kinda hate talking about school :( I wish I could go back and get a degree now. Always makes me think of missing out on college :barnie
