Crappy, mentally sloppy game, lost 12-4, they gave up 4 runs in 2 separate innings with two outs after mental errors cost them the third out in both innings. They got humbled after starting the season 4-0 and crushing the competition each game. One of the coaches had to work, so I had to keep the score book. :he
Bigger they are the harder they fall...that goes for team ego as well. I have seen it several times when my kids were playing. Overconfidence will get ya every time it seems. Poor kiddos, better luck next time, that one is a hard lesson learned.

Wow, that's weird that the snake wouldn't eat the poult. I don't think its a bad thing to do, waste NOT want not! I think its a good way to feed the snake. ( even tho snakes give me the willies) LOL I wont hurt one.
As for the broody hen...hmmm, I am thinking after the chicks hatch...she will leave the duck eggs. Better have an incubator ready. ;) That is IF you want them to hatch. Or, you could take the chicks out as they hatch, and she should finish the duck eggs. Either way...good luck with her...I hope it works out.

DD insisted on a snake as a gift last year for Christmas, so I traded my goats for her snake. I have regretted it a few times, but for the most part it has not been too bad. I don't particularly like the thing, but it does serve it's purpose I suppose.

I think I'll pull the chicks if she sticks this one out and let her finish the ducklings. They won't be very difficult to brood in this heat. We hit 96 today with the heat index being 100+ so they'll only need a lamp at night. Thanks for that advice! :)
