Yeah, the drenchers are a pain. Last Sunday when we got home from church, it had flooded really bad in the bacm yard, and the brooder run. I had forgotten to close the chicks in the little brooder coop too :th Didn't lose a single baby though, they put themselves up. Good birdies :)
Shew! That could have been tragic really quick!
EVEN the two turkey poults put themselves up!! I was amazed! Not one single little one out of 28 were harmed in the least, and the wind was up blowing stuff around everywhere that day!
My ducks and ducklings are the worst about going in during bad weather. I never have to herd them in. They go in by themselves but during bad weather they like to cause problem litte manure heads :p

Havent had to water the garden any but the flowers have had to be watered.
I haven't watered a thing all week except the taters I planted the other day...well, and the animals :p
We watered the fall seedbed we set out. But it didnt cost anything it was free :D fresh from our own rainwater supply in our 1000 gallon tank. :D :D
I'm collecting rainwater as well. I have several gallons saved from the last storm. Like about 30 ish. I don't have a big tank I can use, just a few big containers. :/ wish i had more, going to get some.

Well this one is on loan, technically but you cant drain all the water out of the bottom so I figure its here for a while a nice prep as well. Connected to the guttering........

Mine just go water skiing down the slope in the backyard while the water is running down the hill. They are hillarious to watch during a flash flood type heavy rain

I've NO idea how big we're even gonna make it yet. it depends on how hard t is to dig really, and how fast it fills from the natural spring once we hit it...I'm hoping to avoid the spring until we get the lower end dug out pretty deep...still in the planning stage at the moment ;) It should hold a LOT though if I can dig it the way i want it.
