Oh I LOVE green planning!!
This year we are in a rental again, and there is not much room for a garden and what little room there is, is compacted poor soil. Not sure that I have it in me to pour my heart and soul (and back) into something that I will be leaving in a year :(

I will enjoy living vicariously through all of you gardeners here though :thumbsup

Your canning event sounds fabulous! What a great idea :)

Dace the "canning event" is a madhouse  It is fun though, but we are all pranksters so you have to learn to can while watching your back  I got gifted a bunch of jars recently, and have been slowly working on getting them cleaned up and assessing just how many useable ones I have. I think I really do have A.D.D. I skip around to projects too much. I have 15 things I need to get done, and I think I have 12 or so started and unfinished  I really should get organized!!!! I'm going to write me a new To Do List, it's the only way I get anything DONE, EVER. So......off to do that :D

Those canning parties sound like a hoot! Ain't family great!

The DW tried that a few years ago with tomatoes and several of her "friends". Never, ever, again. I think we were generous in sharing our bounty, and we found out later about complaining about how hard they had to work. We supplied the tomatoes, jars, and lids!!!! REALLY?????, washing tomotoes, triming the bad parts off, quartering, running through a squeezer, and canning was too hard work for free food? Particular when they spent most of their time sitting in a chair watching!!!! :barnie

Im in FFA and earlier this year we canned tomatoes. I operated the stove and I would get baskets of tomatoes with bad spots in them :he .
I had to run over their and make them re do them because they didnt do it the first time :barnie

I too have problems when working with others and canning. When I have worked with my sis a couple of times (she helping me out), she was too picky and too a L.O.N.G. time to do something that I could have done very quickly and easily. When I have worked with my kids (them again helping me out) I end up re-doing somethings and again it takes longer. I always TRY to be encouraging and thankful for their help, because I really do appreciate their company and effort. However it always takes a lot longer.

I tend to do better working alone with someone to just sit by and chat with me. :p
