I got mine here Uncle Jim's Worm Farm and I got the Super Red Worms. I got two sets of 250 worms instead of the 500 set. That way they'd already be separated.

ETA: Nifty is letting me write an article on them for the SS Blog.
IDK if I can order those. That's kinda pricey for me. I think I will dig some up out of the yard
I was gonna dig mine up but I swear we dont have any. We used to have some under every board and they vanish this past summer.

You oughta catch some of them! Wait I messed up mine get 2 parts oats! Then food scraps, sprouts (when I have em). Plus foraging
Mine get scraps but they have to beat the dogs off of them  I give mine meat scraps a good bit to make sure they are getting enough protein.

Do I sound like I am feeding them wrong?

We've got LOADS of them behind the chicken coop! There are a ton of oak leaves they like to stay under over in a shady spot. We have picked up hundreds out there and went fishing with them.

As long as they look healthy, and lay well I really don't think there is any particular "wrong" way. There may be better ways to heighten production, but with foraging, they tend to get what they need anyway. I usually don't feed mine the same in the summer when they have all the grass and bugs.

They go deeper in the soil when it is dry. Last year was pretty dry here. Maybe that is what happened :hu
