UGH another hard day at the office. I am EXHAUSTED! I got a lot of stuff done today, had just got done with a 1250 pound load of steel...and then got a phone call to pick up two loads. My truck was loaded with 2 pallets of cantaloupe and a double pallet of asparagus. My truck squealed  I have NEVER had it THAT loaded....EVER! It had to have been at least a ton. I drove that 12 miles to offload, and sold it all together for fuel. Then I went back and got about a half load of tomatoes, potatoes, jalapenos, cantaloupe, salad mixes, and eggs. Yeah eggs. :hu That wasn't the fun part. The asparagus fell off the truck, right after we had unloaded by hand about 250 cantaloupes :/ We then had to pick up about 200 12lb. boxes of asparagus and reload it, then cross the street and go behind the restaurant, and unload it by hand and take it through the kitchen to the walk in cooler :th I'm worn out :p

Well I just got home. I hauled 3 truck loads of food today after making 3 gallons of fresh salsa. Then I peeled and sliced 60 pounds of potatoes, took them to the neighbors, and commenced to packing and canning. Looks like we'll get about 50 quarts :) I am SO tired though! I did manage to get banking business done and some business at the school while out and about. I sold a bunch of produce, no spills today, thank God! I also sold all my chicks that just hatched yesterday and today.

Anyway....that was my day, hope everyone else had a good one :)

I woke still tired  I am gonna have a long day. I have to figure out how to market about 800 pounds of jalapeno peppers first thing this morning once I go pick them up. Then we are getting another truck load of potatoes. The potatoes will go fast though. My neighbor and I canned 50 pounds last night to split between our two families. No more taters for me right now :p My finger is still swollen this morning from peeling all those yesterday afternoon.

I need to finish the food thing today. I am picking up niecey girl on the way out. I have to put together an entertainment center for my mom sometime today, and when I get home tonight, I have more tomatoes waiting to get canned, frozen, or dehydrated. I need to harvest my onions and do those too, but I'm thinking that will be a job for next week at best. Two rows of beans have been hoed out in the garden, DD did that yesterday while I was peeling potatoes. I am SOOOO glad school is out so I have a little help here now! The neighbor kid helped with potatoes last night for a little while, but she didn't get much done watching TV while peeling  She will help with the garden too some. I just can't handle it all myself. Right now, I haven't been able to handle much of any of the garden stuff...maybe next week.

I have to haul a load of steel today too. Hopefully I can get done with the produce by noonish and get that done and then get home. I need to fuel up the truck too as I ran a BUNCH of gas out yesterday. I usually don't pay for the food I want for that reason. I used about $30 worth of gas yesterday, but I got 3 crates of tomatoes, 100lbs of potatoes, and a 20 pound box of jalapenos out of the deal. I'll likely spend $10 more in fuel today, and spent about that Tuesday as well. So I'm out about $50 but will have a nicely stocked pantry to show for it this winter :drool It's funny, what I chose to keep sounds like a lot of food, but pales in comparison to what I've hauled the last two days alone

I just hope I can market a lot of those peppers today. I DON'T wanna get stuck with them :ep Toodles folks...time to make the donuts :p

If you are not careful, you are going to be just like the doughnut guy - meeting yourself coming and going! :th

Do you have very many Mexican restaurant's in the area? They use a lot of jalapenos in their dishes. :hu I want to get a mess of them this year, to experiment with. I want to dry slices, and grind some into jalapeno powder. 800 pounds is a BIT more than I need though!

You are too good a person, trying to do for everybody else AND your own family/stuff too! :hugs If you're not careful, you'll run yourself ragged. Then what would everybody do?! ;)

It's good to hear that DD is trying to help out.

Depending on what I'm doing with them, I sometimes run my tomatoes through the strainer/seeder thingy, then freeze them up - buys me time and lets me do a big batch on a cooler day ???

Hope things slow down and people stop making demands on your time soon, so you can take a breather! :fl :hugs

Reading about your harvest (and others) reminds me that I have a very short growing season. I just transplanted mine.

Sounds like you've been working very hard. I hope you're well otherwise.
