Dairy hates me so caffeine is the only thing on that list I would be that upset about lol. Hardly ever drink alcohol either.

I'm going to aim for non-processed as much as possible . It's so hard!!

So -- here's why. July, 1918...DH had bad back pain. We thought it was from the 500 bales of hay we had just worked. Went to dr to be sure he hadn't damaged a disc, etc. This man had his annual physical set already but, it was 2 weeks out. Religiously had one each yr & always a colonoscopy, since a couple polyps prev. Doc saw us, sent him next door for a scan. We did that, went home. Got home 15 min later and there was a msg to call immediately. Doc says come back. Knew this wasn't good! At his office he advises us that DH has a tumor surrounding his colon, soon would totally close it AND tumors already on liver. 3-4 months -- terminal due to liver.

DH had been having bloating & elimination issues for a few weeks and said nothing, did nothing. Hey -- annual soon!

We had to have the tumor removed or it would have cut off colon and quickly severe pain, rupture and certain death. As it was, the suggested probably 3-4 months after colon op and it would be close to the terminal date. At that time, no immune therapy going...he was otherwise healthy, active, etc.

Chemo happened (as he had a business and a LOT of real estate and things to get in line). Chemo staved of the inevitable and Aug, 1919 I watched him pass into God's hands. He was a devout Catholic, we went the whole route. His time came. 20 yrs, ago.

If you have any situation that might be pointing to colon issues, please consider some method to finding what if anything, is wrong to help you change anything you may need to change for a good outcome! You may just need to alter your eating, lose weight, etc., etc., etc.

I understand not going thru all the things they want to do. Heck, I haven't seen a dr in 20 years. But if something about my body did not respond to routine help, pain was bad, there was a real "issue" NOT normal -- and you KNOW what is normal for you -- then I would go in for clarification. Personally, I am living to 105 and will maintain good health, already know this but, if I hurt myself by not paying attention. Shame on me!

Please think about your own situation.

So -- here's why.

Sorry...but as sad as that story was and it was incredibly sad in more ways than one, none of that convinces me that I should do cancer screening. Chemo didn't stave off anything and the man died exactly when he was supposed to die. For that I'm very sorry and for your grief, I am sorry.

We all have an appointment and no amount of medical treatment will stave off that appointment. Relieve pain, relieve symptoms, and even improve quality of life whilst we live, but we are all going to die at our appointed time.

It's not a popular opinion, of that I'm aware, but CC should be able to have it without pressure from all sides.

I went through similar pressure some years ago when it was thought I had breast CA. Some friends haven't spoken to me since, because I wasn't going to do anything about it~no definitive testing, no biopsy, no treatment, zilch. Not friends after all, it would seem. They declared I was "giving up", whatever that means. I haven't given up anything, but have enjoyed life to the hilt and am still doing so. Turned out it was just a pinched nerve in the spine causing all those symptoms.

Agreed with Bee on all counts. No one should be pressured, or bullied into any kind of treatment. I have worked almost all of my adult life in the medical field. I see a more gruesome side of the system: I am well aware of the many times that medical decisions are made for a patient with very little input from the patient regarding her actual desires and goals in the matter. Unfortunately, many decisions are made strictly according to the patient's status in society, and their insurance payor source. I could tell stories that would curl your hair, and make you spitting mad. But, I'll choose not to go down that path. Not only the treatment side of things, but also, the diagnostic, and the pharmaceutical industries are all about $$$$$$$$$$.

Amen. I have similar horror stories....sad, tragic and also needless. It's a trillion dollar business that feeds on fear, but if it can't get you on fear, it will get you with cognitive dissonance.

As people are bombarded with CA ads on tv and pressure from friends and family, often they succumb to these persuasions without even seeking the Lord's wisdom on it or educating themselves to potential options.

Yeah I don't see no bullying either. But then again I've been married to the same woman for 33 thousand years and raised 11 childern. So trust me when I say there is nothing anyone can say to insult or bully me - I've heard it all.

We all have horror stories and everyone has a right to voice their opinion. MH was telling her story - much as we all do. I'm glad to see both sides of this subject. What I didn't see was bullying...
