My dog always poops on the pathway. I am getting to the point where... I'm ready to stop trying to clean the poop out of the pathway, and use it for traction instead. What's not snow covered with just enough crust to ALMOST bear my weight before I fall through... of course the snow under the crust is over the top of my boots... Any thing that's not like that is like a bottle. I've been using stove ash, some sand, gravel. One more week of record cold nastiness, then we'll be moving into the typical "spring is coming" nastiness: snow, rain, ice, mud. Rinse and repeat.

We're currently at 6+". Temp 36*. Time to get out and snow blow before this turns to rain. It's been working out fairly well to walk the snow blower into the chicken's "sun room" and blow the snow out through the open door after I knock it all down off the peaked tarp roof section. Otherwise, the pile in the sun room would be all most all the way to the top of the wire mesh roof section (6' tall).

We got about 1 1/2" of snow yesterday. But this is March 4th, not the beginning of February. I'm glad I held off setting out my hardies in the garden. Its brisk out there.

Had a lovely but not copious snow last night, the kind that covers every little twig and branch. Like a wonderland out there this morning but the sun came out and it's started to melt off a little. Will be in the teens and maybe singles tonight but back up to the 60s later on this week for day temps.

It's been a yo-yo kind of winter here this year.

My garden waits patiently....while I give it a light dusting of wood ash and order seeds.
