Originally we were just going to stay home, go to bed early, and let that be it. But DH was on his way home from visiting his mom in the hospital and found New Moon was still playing. So, we'll be taking the DS to see it tonight. He's been wanting to see it and his dad and stepmom refuse to take him. He was so disappointed when I couldn't find it on the internet nearby, but DH came through and found it! woohoo! I haven't told him what we're doing yet, just told him we might be going somewhere tonight. Hehe, he's going to be so surprised! *walks around doing the "I'm a cool mom" strut*

I just realized I can use "New Year celebration" as my excuse for drinking brandy instead of "It makes my sore throat feel better" ;)

We're going to my brother's house, my SIL is Philippine, she's cooking, and we're eating! She always has a party on New Year's Eve, they live close, so I don't mind driving the five miles to their house. I hate driving around on this night, it's amateur night for far too many out there!

For us...Hubby gets off work at 8 pm...I have a small "buffett" style table of munchies....
Shrimp
BBQ meatballs
Cheese squares
Nachos
Hot wings
and Chili with cornbread.
Just me and the hubby tonight...sitting in front of that " one eyed monster" ( the TV) and we will have ONE glass of wine to ring in the new year...then off to bed! :p I know...we are such "party animals!" LOL Getting older means getting smarter! No hangovers for us! ;)
Justasnak, whatever you do DO NOT let those shrimp or meatballs fall on the kitchen floor!!! (Still laughing about FarmerChick's comment from the FDA kitchen thread.)

I think your evening sounds yummy! :drool

We are home with DS (7) who is thrilled we're not going to the usual party nearby. I made a big pan of lasagna from scratch. Noodles, bolognese sauce, besamel sauce, (like French Bechamel) all from scratch. It was so worth it!
We'll have chips and dip and popcorn and watch The Russians Are Coming The Russians Are Coming, because we always do. We'll probably watch the ball drop and think of our friends who live in NYC and hide in their apartment rather than go anywhere near that craziness!
I'll mix a few cocktails and DH will have bubbly at midnight. I'll have a sip to toast with him but I hate the stuff!

Movies, Wii Fit, a little champagne.....that is about it!
Wow, getting old is truly exciting huh?
Ours is almost identical... Movies, Wii (which we got for Christmas), some beer and junk food (foccacia and baba ganouj, buffalo wings, nacho chips and layered dip, and stir fried calamari)... I think it sounds like a perfect night, and I'm not 'old' :)
