So, I did it--I canned one jar of my 40 lbs of pears in an old Gem jar complete with glass lid, rubber ring, and modern steel band--and it sealed :)

(I also canned the rest of the 40 lbs of pears and they filled 28 quarts/litres.)

Gorgeous Moolie! I am glad that it worked for you!

Just got done doing thick tomato sauce-17 pints.. probably would have been more but we like to "taste test" while it is cooking down!;)

This weekend I am canning:

more peach ginger jam (step dad bought me peaches and asked lol! <3 )
thai sweet and hot sauce
pepper jelly
possibly a mixed berry jam if I have time (I should, really)

More potato canning (just had to buy another 50 lb bag today.)

Mom's pizza sauce recipe. Spaghetti sauce tomorrow.

Auntie and I are doing spaghetti sauce soon :D

She's getting us tomatoes.

For pizza, since I do it on quiche or other substitutes, I just dice a tomato and add spices lol.
