What can you tell me about these chicken breeds?

DH says he doesn't like the sussex "They're ugly as sin." was his exact words. So okay, didn't get too many of them anyways and they seem to be on the bottom of the pecking order.

Are they still filling out? Then yes, ugly, but they make the most beautiful adults. I'm raising up some chicks now because I love my one SS hen so much. She is a decent layer too. I hope to have a small breeding flock in the summer.

At my place the broody queens are the Buff Orpingtons and the Black Australorps.

I would like to try some White Rocks for all the qualities listed above, but I've never really liked the look of an all white chicken.:/
