Joined a community garden. I have about 100 square feet for growing food herbs, and some flowers.
Switched to a bigger apt (for same price). It has a sunnier balcony so I can grow potted herbs and a few veggies there.
Got good crops of pickling and Armenian cucumbers, Yard Long beans, Sweet basil, Lemon basil and Roma tomatoes, marigolds, and collards.
Saved seeds for basils, 3 kinds of marigolds, stevia, and coreopsis. 1st try at saving seeds.
Encouraging a blackberry that volunteered to be in my community garden raised bed.
Made 1- 1/2 gallons of pickles at the end of the season. :) Made some pickles earlier, but they are gone.
Made cloth female pads in a few styles, for heavier or lighter days. :) Wish I knew about them years ago.
Adapted a recipe to make whole grain rye bread I love.
Made lots of basil vinegar.
Learning to make wine and got some supplies for it.
Made various body scrubs.
Made tooth powder that tastes good and works well. No more buying toothpaste.
Mostly quit commercial shampoos.
Made some SCA clothing. Good practice if I ever had to make my own, but it's still usually cheaper to go to thrift shops.

I started it all this year.

- planted a peach and a pear tree, blueberry bushes and blackberry canes. Tried raspberry but I don't think it made it
- picked 4gal of wild blackberries and put them in the freezer for cobblers
- built a chicken pen / house for 4 chickens
- added on to the chicken pen / house when I ended up with 16 chickens :D
- broke ground and planted a 40x60 garden, my first
- learned what "blossom end rot" and "blight" are
- had fresh peas and squash several times a week
- tried my hand at blueberry, fig and strawberry-fig preserves
- cooked down pumpkins and froze the goody
- made pumpkin bread
- raised and processed 21 meat birds ( :th still can't believe I did that LOL)
- planted a fall garden
- learned the almanac is pretty accurate at first frost dates, won't dismiss it next year
- expanded garden to 100x100
- started putting together supplies to build a chicken yard in the garden

I really really want a goat. Really. *sigh*

What, you're trying to get rid of yours so soon? LOL

Yup, some people get "the goat bug", I've got it for dogs. <rolling eyes at self>. I always thought owning a dog would be too much work and that I'd hate walking a dog at 5 a.m. in the dark in a blizzard.

'Pears I was mistaken :p
