Yesterday got an alert pop-up from MSM "Temperature Plummet" I laughed 😂

did not get text message but about the same experience except our high went from 83F (and very humid) to low 60sF and last night got down to the low 40sF (wind chill down to mid 30sF). turned the heat on for a bit this morning to warm up a little and to get the damp out of the house.

today is forecast to be sunny and mid-60sF and a bit of a breeze. perfect day to get back out and check for any last dry bean pods in all the bean gardens before the next four days of forecast chances of rains. i just finished up yesterday the last garden i didn't get to earlier this week so by now there might be some other pods i can gather. i sure don't want to be inside much on such a nice day... will have to find something else to do if there's no beans. hmm... dunno what. a lot of projects out there but recent rains mean i can't do some of them (too much ditch stuff to do :( ). i can always bury garden debris and clean up gardens for winter so that's default if i can't find something else to do...

Not much done today, summer garden is basically done and needing to be turned. Fall lettuce is up a couple inches and carrots are coming too.

do you turn the whole garden? i only dig trenches and bury stuff in part of the garden so it's not much work for me and my body/back enjoys digging (as long as i'm not starting out first thing with it and work into it gradually :) ).

for weedy gardens i skim the surface weeds and any fallen seeds into the deepest part of the trenches. it's all worm food eventually. :)

I do, but since it is only in the 50s today it isn't so bad of work! Can't believe we had to factor in a windchill this morning-oh happy fall

I have hope for the fall cabbage and brussels, the leaves on the cabbages are huge. We need rain, grow big strong cabbages. 💪

They must be! I love sweet potatoes in any way and form.

same here, i could eat squish or sweet taters every day. i could eat a whole bag of sweet potato chips much more often than i should. we just finished a large bag of them last week and i already miss them. today i had to have regular ruffled sour cream and cheddar potato chips and while i enjoyed them i really would have liked the sweet potato ones more. spoiled ain't i? :) i know it. is that worse? don't tell me. i'm also opinionated and have no sense of humor at all. especially when i'm hongry! :) all in fun. i am in a funny mood tonight... i hope you can bear with me in these troubled times...

Hello everyone! Yesterday I finished the tomatoes halves and what I gathered today gave it to the mechanic that had called to check why furnace was not coming on. 480 Washington's later, noticed a plant growing in the seeders that I gave up on. I put 9 seeds of pumpkin [PR] and nothing so I gave up and stop watering it. Went to Indiana and back and today I found this. So put it in a bigger pot and sat it by kitchen window. I have no clue what to do with it. Cannot put on pot inside nor put it outside. Any advise?

Another question, so done with gardening. Do I pull the plants and put them in the compost mount in the back or should I bury them on their spot and add egg shells, coffee grounds, and some duck manure and cover with straw until next spring?

Oh by the way, I have no clue about compost. Been throwing stuff in a mount in the back for 2 yrs. ( chicken manure with woodchips, kitchen scraps, coffee grounds, yard clippings and small branches) But now the chickens finally found it and they have been scratching in it. They uncovered a tomato plant which has 5 tomatoes in it. Now what?

@flowerbug you do have a sense of humor.
However, you are right about those delicious bags that they are kind enough to put some chips in them, lol
Found out today while putting away the canning stuff in pantry, there is a big bag of regular potato chips and another big bag of cheetos. Have been holding myself but might not last long. Yesterday had a quick can of soup and this morning my BP was at 157/69. Not good, lol after meds it went down to 137/74 but do not want it higher than 120 at least.
