Zucchini is a weird plant. Look there's a tender little zucchini that maybe I should cut off the vine. Come back tomorrow and that little zucchini is a giant zucchini.
they are usually a good 2 weeks behind tomatoes and they acted the same this year. I recall reading that a temp between 80 ~ 90 degrees Fahrenheit needs to be maintained at all times for pepper seeds to germinate. And it could take up to 6 weeks for the pepper seeds to germinate. I don't recall ever having to wait 6 weeks though.
I start my seeds on the back of my pellet stove. Tomato seeds take 5 to 7 days normally. I start the bell pepper seeds one week before the tomato seeds. They normally take from 10 to 14 days to germinate.Peppers have sprouted
1 flat of green bell, 1 flat of red bell, 1 flat of jalapeno, 1/2 flat of chili and 1/2 flat of banana. 1 flat or 72 cells is usually more than enough for a 50 foot garden row. Plus being able to give some away to family, friends, neighbors.

Well that's it, my seed shelving is now full, with 12 flats. Everything else is direct sow. Just waiting for spring now
Again being able to start your own seeds is a big $$$ saver.

Plus those seed come from plants acclimated to your climate. Usually better production.
